Cooper has loved our new baby chicks! 🐥

And this experience has got me thinking as well. Did you know that the mother hen has to allow the chick to crack out of its own egg? This struggle is essential in helping them develop muscle and breathe properly. So, in helping the chick, the hen would actually do more harm.

This is a good reminder to me to sometimes allow Cooper to do things on his own to develop the skills he will need for life. My first instinct is to rescue and make his life easier but this will do more harm in the long run. Instead of rescuing, I need to help him develop the skills he needs to cope with the struggle.

Sometimes, I have to remind myself that these small moments are worth it! I hope you can find some encouragement in this poem:
-----
King David and Daniel are heroes of old.
Brave, strong, faithful, and true.
Firm in faith regardless of what they went through.
But the names of their mommas are untold.

I believe that David's identity of courage,
and developing a heart like the Lords,
wasn't chance but rather points towards
a momma's whispers of truth; knowing how to encourage.

Compromising his faith, Daniel didn't do
regardless of a king or the lion's roar.
This integrity was part of Daniel at the core
developed by prayers from a momma as he grew.

These mommas had no name
but the examples, whispered prayers,
and words of truth spoken with care
impacted these boys even in the absence of fame

So dear momma, please hear me.
The lessons, the comfort, the love
the moments to direct their eyes above
are not a waste, even if nobody sees.

Always remember the role you bring
to teach them about Jesus, since
your raising a saint, a warrior, a prince,
a princess of the one true king!
