Bold Expressions Studio As an autistic artist, I paint to show you how I see the world—full of color, emotion, and wonder. My favorite subject matter was human beings.

I started drawing when I was about 3 years old and was enthralled with art and all its works. I rapidly passed through crayons and went on to graphite pencils. I loved how the muscles shaped the body, and how movement changed the shape of the muscles beneath the skin. I continued drawing and went to Mansfield University for Studio Art. I learned acrylic painting, fibers (weaving), pottery, carving

, jewelry making, and many other skills. I dropped out with 12 credits to go because my father died. After a rough couple of years of employment problems, I found out I was autistic as an adult. It explained all the problems I had with socialization and interpersonal skills. My art was a major crutch and mental-emotional stabilizer. Since finding out I was on the spectrum my life has totally changed, my art has improved, I can communicate with my 3 autistic children, totally understanding how THEY feel. My daughter has taken up art as well. I have been specializing in portraits of people and pets.
