Monday 3/16/26: There are those RARE AS Fk times where Jane’s luva (me) cooks… like I dunno… 1x every 2 years? This time Jane was away on business for half a week so I manned the helm….

3. : actually surprisingly wasn’t that great. I think the meat was just far too lean. SRF rip off. I braised it for more than 4 hours it just never got that soft. Gave up
4. …. But the braising liquid is worth mentioning!: 1) !!!!, 2) Red wine, 3) lots of beef stock

3/9/26 Monday: Guess Jane had to do some business around Japan town, so she got some good stuff for suppa:
1. Homemade broth

3. Raw sashimi grade marinated in her own mix of liquids, garlic, and shallots it looks like

7. An assortment of fish cakes (I love the mochi stuffed ones!)
8. Fresh noodles (she didn’t make)
9. Special vegetables normally found in legit Chinese hotpots, but she bought this from the Japanese market, so I guess it’s also Japanese? This Japanese bought one is so much crunchier and younger, with far less fiber!

The ebi is so good when you get to crack the head open yourself and suck the brains out! Be careful if it has a full stomach though!—pull out the black sac if there is one. Also, gotta devein if you can see it through the back. Otherwise… so much better than as sushi with rice when you can hold it in your hands and eat a full bite after bite! And some generous dipping in the soy sauce and herb mixture really helps bring out the flavor and smooth texture!

3. with spam and some sort of tofu
4. Western style in some kind of white sauce
5. Soy sauce braised 2 kinds of tofu—ultra silky and standard
6. Pan fried XLBs (she didn’t make, bought frozen)

Sunday 2/22/96: Sooooo I was like, why don’t we go out for some (à la ) tonight and she’s like, “How ‘bout we make it at home?” F yeah! 1hr later delivery drops off 2 bags of stuffs…

So this was her first time, and admittedly I think she’s about 50% there—but still tasted great!, just not really the same.

For the boil there’s crab, shrimp, mini potatoes, corn, sausage, so got the main stuff (except crawfish I guess). For sides she made and for the kids. Guess we forgot the garlic bread?—oh well.

Main difference is the sauce. The flavor is there but needs like 10x the garlic. She put many bars of butter, but I guess the real thing even has more!—hers just didn’t have that layer of grease on top.

(Oh and almost forgot, check out the cocktail in a can! I tried a taste at and really apprecated the generosity and friendliness of its creator who shared it with me. Give it a try!)

for breakfast! This is a “modern version” where the filling is not completely raw, about 1/3rd precooked ground pork, and 2/3rds raw. This helps with not having dead space in traditional bao where the steam is expands the volume while the dough is still cooking, resulting in a h if e pocket of air without filling. In this version there’s no empty space, and still juicy!

2 nights of !! Weekend of snowboarding (WITH KIDS) deserves some great meals, and I think you’d admit, this is dam impressive for Asian food cooked entirely at our AirBnB cabin kitchen at Lake Tahoe! For 3 whole families no less!! 😱💪👍😜😊. (That’s my Jane!)

for day 1. Some good stuff too—variety of meats, mini squids, rare Chinese vegetables, and all kinda of ofhet stuff. Even make-your-own-sauce. Then a variety for day 2. Perfectly seared salmon, Peruvian chicken complete with green sauce, and tofu/beef for the kids.

OH OH!!!!! And Jade!!!!!! 🦖🦖🦖😱😊😊😊
