I’m a mother to four incredible kids — two by birth and two by marriage. The oldest is Philip. This bright, kind soul came into my life when he was just barely eight years old. His dad and I dated for a while, and 1 month shy of our wedding, Philip was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes.
Since then, I’ve watched him grow into an amazing teenager (with the occasional hormones 🙃) who faces this diagnosis with courage every single day. It hasn’t always been easy — there’s still a lot of trial and error — but he continues to handle it with strength that inspires me constantly.
This past holiday season, we visited a candle shop to pick out scents together, and Philip was absolutely set on one particular fragrance. On the drive home, while talking with my sister, the idea was born: a candle created just for him… with the possibility of more specials inspired by each of my children.
This candle is more than a scent.
It’s love. It’s family. It’s resilience.
