Lesson #2 from our first Farmers’ Market: Listen to your customers. 👂🏽🩷

One of the most valuable parts of being at the market wasn’t just selling our candles. It was getting to actually talk to you.

We heard everything from, “OMG, this smells amazing!” 😍 to “Wait…how do you warm a candle without a wick?” 😂🕯️

And we loved EVERY question.

Those conversations helped us realize what we’re explaining well and, more importantly, what we could be explaining better.

As a small business, your questions and feedback are so valuable because they help us understand what you want to know, what you’re curious about, and what we should be sharing more of.

One thing our first Farmers’ Market taught us? Sometimes your customers need to experience your product in person. 🩷✨

When you run an online business, you spend so much time trying to show people what makes your product special through a screen. But fragrance is an experience. 🌸🥭🌲

At the Farmers’ Market, people could actually smell our candles, see them up close, and ask the question we heard A LOT:

“Wait…what’s a wickless candle?” 😂

And we loved it!

It gave us the opportunity to explain why we created them, how they work, and what makes the experience different.

Our biggest takeaway for other small business owners: think about how you can give customers a chance to truly experience your product, not just see it.

Our first Farmers’ Market taught us a lot, and we’re taking you behind the scenes for all of it. 🩷 Hopefully, we see some our community at our next one. 🥰

No Scent of the Day today, but don’t worry… we have something special coming next week! 👀🩷✨

This past June, YGM Creations packed up our candles and headed to St. Pete, Florida for a Farmers Market! 🌴☀️🕯️

Next week, we’re taking you behind the scenes of our market experience, from setting up our booth and displaying our candles to meeting customers and sharing YGM Creations in person. 🥹💕 There’s something so special about taking what we’ve built online and getting to experience it with our community face-to-face.

So consider this our little Scent of the Day intermission. 😂 Next Wednesday, we’re switching things up and bringing you along for the Farmers Market experience!

For the perfect melt and fragrance experience:

✨ Always use an overhead candle warmer
⏳ Avoid warming for more than 6 hours at a time
🤍 Remember, your candle and melted wax will be hot
☀️ Store your candle in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight
🐾 Keep your candle safely away from children and pets

There’s something special about creating a candle with the person who has been by your side through every season of life. 💕✨

This week, we’re sharing Tropical Burst, a scent that means so much more to us than tropical fruit and sunshine. It’s a piece of our story.

Growing up with our Caribbean roots, some of our favorite memories were always centered around family. The laughter, the warm island breeze, the fresh fruit, and the feeling that no matter where life took us, being together always felt like home.

When my sister and I created Tropical Burst, we wanted to bottle that feeling. Every note was chosen to capture the joy, warmth, and vibrant spirit of the Caribbean that shaped us and continues to inspire everything we create.

As we celebrate our annual family trip this year in beautiful Costa Rica, it feels like the perfect time to share the candle that reminds us why we started YGM Creations in the first place. Family has always been at the heart of our journey, and creating together has made every milestone even more meaningful.

🥥✨ Today’s Scent of the Day is… Island Coconut! ✨🥥

Growing up in the Virgin Islands, coconut was more than just a fragrance, it was a part of my childhood.

I still remember my dad climbing the coconut tree, picking a fresh coconut, and cutting it open so I could drink the cool coconut water straight from the shell. Those are memories I’ll always treasure. 💛

And every year during the St. Thomas Carnival Food Fair, the smell of freshly baked coconut tarts would fill the air. Warm, sweet, buttery, and filled with island love. This was paradise.

That’s exactly what Island Coconut reminds me of. It’s creamy, comforting, and brings a little piece of home into every room.
