The Crazy Chair

Florida's subtropical climate has granted us the privilege of appreciating nature's splendor around the clock. As we wander through our neighborhood late in the evening, the nocturnal sounds of owls, the fragrance of night-blooming flowers, and the soft whisper of the wind through palm trees combine to create an enchanting atmosphere. The design of this chair takes its cue from these sensory experiences.

Button press.
Some things are not subject to evolution. They are perfectly fine being the dinosaurs of the trade. I love mine. We’ve been together for over 10 years and it never broke on me. It’s probably because it’s made out of cast iron and has one joint, but let us not allow the truth get in a way of a good story. And it is a story between me and my button press, a love story. He makes me happy 🤗.

The Harvest. This chair is a cornucopia of images that symbolize the abundance of nature's gifts, life on a farm, and the cottage charm that comes with it. Most of the fabrics are velvet or chenille, with a small exception on the top inside wings, where I used old-fashioned tapestries.

Images of the Queen Bee, the rooster and the red poppies and by my dear friend Jena DellaGrottaglia , an amazing artist , who helps me create my Crazy Chairs .

Dark, sweet and mysterious! This chair came straight out of a fairy tale. It’s almost architectural in nature, like a gothic cathedral, with spikes, arches and a macabre beauty of the deep, saturated colors.

Upholstery is so much more than swapping the fabric. It requires addressing the frame issues (cracks, loose screws), changing the foam if needed and most certainly refinishing the wood. Procedure varies from chair to chair, I did the required minimum here, because nothing was structurally wrong with legs.

Good morning, everyone! Here is my latest! I was working on it for the last 6 days. Lots of sewing, lots of embellishments and lots of love went into it. I’ll be posting some tutorials later on this week. Patchwork and ribbons are my favorite techniques now!

Good morning, everyone! What are you up to? What are your 5 impossible things before breakfast? Mine are mostly related to waking up and dragging myself to the kitchen to make a cup of coffee etc.

Anyhow, here is my latest project. It’s made out of tapestries for the most part. I’ve collected quite a bit of them. You never know when you gonna need one (or five) of them.
