I made this for my Chief Master Sergeant who retired this month. Years ago, Chief Lee noticed me crocheting on my lunch break, and offhandedly asked for a red and black dragon. Because Chief Lee is the reason I joined the 217th (the best unit possible), I wanted to create a dragon that reflected their exceptional military career🖤

Believe it or not, this pattern happened on accident!🤫
I was given “creative freedom” and wanted to find a way to use ALL my Easter colors. I had no idea these stripes would form on the opposite side of my stitches. But I’m glad they did!! Then, the name was off center from the handle just a touch. I thought a little flower will lengthen the name, making everything center.
I call this my “happy little accident” basket🥰🎨
