Hi, I am Donna Hinson Johnson! I am a native of south Florida who grew up in a small coastal beach town. After graduating from Florida State University with a Communications & Fine Arts degree, I moved to Houston, Texas & pursued an advertising career. After a business career, I went back to my art skills to fine-tune them to follow my passion and create Art for the Heart & Soul. My inspiration mainly comes from my experiences of traveling and growing up in a beach town. I love the color blue and the serenity it brings to the soul. Vibrant colors are a favorite of mine to wake up the mind. I will challenge myself to try new techniques and new mediums. A recent art career highlight was painting the commissioned piece Our Happy Place, a birthday gift for my client’s wife. Thank you for visiting my website. I hope you have enjoyed my art and purchased an item or canvas. I would appreciate any comments or commission inquiries at my email: [email protected]

A fun fast watercolor painting that was done in a group setting on a cruise. I haven’t painted with watercolor in a LONG time, but I really enjoyed this medium. Try something you thought was behind you, you never know!

This piece always feels like a quiet moment of color and calm to me. I love the way the bright bird, the berries, and the blue background work together to create a focal point that feels both lively and peaceful.

What makes it special is the balance — there’s enough realism to feel familiar, but still enough softness in the painting to keep it feeling expressive and alive. It’s one of those works that rewards a slower look.
