Jamie Lewis, owner of M1Yarns in Detroit and the organizer of the Fresh Coast Fiber Festival was a guest speaker at our DAYCAMP event last week.

Having her own Yarn Company, holding dye workshops across Michigan and being the organizer of a Yarn Festival, Jamie certainly has a lot to talk about.

However the biggest question was: “What the hell are you wearing, Jamie???”

We got the facts:

It’s the “Simple Ass-Warmer” and a matching raglan situation for good measure. The skirt pattern is by Colorway Knits. Check this designer out!
You can get the pattern on Ravelry.

Did Jamie make adjustments to the pattern? Yup.
“ I did it solid, instead of stripes. And I did a fold over waistband with elastic in it. “
The yarn Jamie used is a DK Merino held doubled. We are certain you will find that during the Michiana Yarn Crawl this weekend in any of the 10 stores participating. We are one of them.

So, there you have it.
Now, get on knittn’…and crawling.

Xoxo

Welcome to the Friday Morning Knit Club!

Grab your project, your coffee and come on over to Yarn Haus on Friday mornings.
Let’s knit together and check in with each other before the weekend hits. And to clarify: yes, crocheters are as welcome as knitters are. We love hookers AND stabbers equally.

Michelle and Rosemarie are running this Club and will be here to answer questions and help you over a bump in the road if you need it.

This is NOT a class, just us being creative in community but with help on site. We call this “supportive knitting.”

Please RSVP and join us.
We have room for 8!

ONE YEAR!

A year ago today on 10.10.25 we opened the doors to the Yarn Haus.
Wow. That went by fast.

Thank you to all of you who support us.
Thank you to all of you that keep showing up, bringing us your stories, your projects, your ideas, your friends and most importantly yourself.
Thank you for your trust in us.
We are creating a magical world of fiber, colors, textures, creativity and self expression here-and with that a powerful community of likeminded humans. And that is a dream.

Happy Anniversary to this incredible team: Liz, Rosemarie, Elisabeth, Kiki and Wesley.
And a shout-out to our adjacent teachers: Chris, Barbara, Ruth, Zoe, Kelli J. and Tom. Thank you!

With love and gratitude,
Suzanna

P.S. The Michiana Yarn Crawl is going on, it's a busy Holiday Weekend, Rosemarie is in Denmark and we are still tired from the DAYCAMP event-so, we didn't have time or the (wo)manpower to organize a party.
We will let you know when we get to that-but really-every day around here is kind of a party-so just stop by and join in...

P.P.S. Remember we are not often on facebook. Best is to follow us on Instagram.

🐰

We are still going through the portraits that Wesley took of you all in our Studio during DAYCAMP.

Michael Fleming,

Director of Product Development and Sales from Blue Sky Fiber
was our toughest subject. He was convinced that it is impossible to photograph him. I gladly report that we proofed him wrong, and that we even managed to get a smile out of the man…or is that a smirk?

Anyhow, it’s his sweater we were really after-because: amazing!
Michael knitted it in “Prairie”- a yarn he developed for Blue Sky Fiber; in colors ( he also developed) we questioned until he walked in wearing this piece. So good!

The pattern is “Nightfall” by Maxim Cyr

Michael, thanks for being a presenter at our DAYCAMP and spending the day with us. Thanks for telling us all about Blue Sky Fiber and your approach to developing yarns, your industry insights and your take on washing sweaters. For the once that couldn’t make it that day, Michael and I agree on “snow washing” your hand knits.

Lastly-thanks for crackin’ a smile!
Come back soon, ok?

xoxo
Suzanna

P.S. Blue Sky's "Prairie" is a unique, single-ply brushed Alpaca yarn made from a blend of Suri and Huacaya alpaca. Lightweight, yet sturdy. Unexpectately perfect for this color work sweater. The 4 colors Michael used: Raven, Heron, Switchgrass and Sedum.

A new Lady is in the Haus!

Come, see and touch the work of Gwen from Bella Filato Studio up in Traverse City, MI.

Her 100% Corriedale Woolen Spun DK mixed perfectly with her beautifully dyed Fluff, a 64% Kid Mohair; 36% Silk blend. A knitter, spinner and dyer-Gwen named her practice for her Italian Husband. “Filato” means “yarn” in Italian. And “Bella” means “beautiful”-but you already knew that, right?

I met Gwen earlier this year at the Fresh Coast Fiber Festival- and had to bring her work down here to our corner of Michigan. Yummy stuff.

Come and see this and other Michigan yarns this weekend when you are “crawling” around the region. Yes, that was my attempt to also highlight the Michiana Yarn Crawl we are kicking off today.filato meaning

See you all at the Haus-and out and about.

Tada- the Michiana Yarn Crawl kicks off tomorrow.
It's the first ever- so no wonder you have never heard of it.

Really more a roadtrip than a crawl- so- come on out to the country this long weekend and visit us and the other 9 yarn stores participating.

We even have passports for your adventure- pick yours up here in Three Oaks and map out your trip! This weekend could take you all the way up north to Zeeland Mi were you will find our friend Aubrey at GarenHuis Yarn Studio, LLC and South to Chesterton to see our very own Chris Three Moons Fiberworks. Of course you must stop in South Bend to say hi to the fabulous Holly from Briana Rose- but before you leave Harbor Country stop by in Bridgeman and visit Rick Fuller and his team at Hoof-to-Hanger Fiber Processing Mill ....
As for the other stores- we have not been to them either, but hey- we might see you on the road.
How exciting!

xoxo

Today is here.

Welcome to all 40 Campers that will be spending the day with us here in Three Oaks. Thank you for joining us.

Get ready for an epic Southern Style lunch at our beloved Viola Cafe-and listen to how owner and uber host Anthony Bellon and his husband Scott King created a restaurant based solely on family recipes.
Meet Michael Fleming, Director of Blue Sky Fiber and taste our favorite BSF yarn, see the new color releases, check out garments that are based on Michael's patterns.
Meet Jamie Lewis, the Indie Queen hailing from Detroit with exquisite hand-dyed yarns from her company M1Yarns , and get ready to sign up for a road trip to meet her and all of us again in Traverse City next May for the "Fresh Coast Fiber Festival" which she organizes.
Hang with Ruth Boelkins of Spout Knitting Designs and cast on a few new Fall Projects with her-all the while browsing an entire room filled with a Plied Yarn Co. trunk show.
Then liisten carefully to Rick Fuller, the master miller of Hoof to Hanger Fiber Mill talking about what it all takes to go from fleece to needle.

Throughout the day learn new tricks from our amazing roster of knitting and crocheting teachers:
Rosemarie Skow, Kiki Belloc, Maggie Tinks, Chris Hathaway ( of Three Moon Fiber Works) Barbara Englebert, Liz Vaitkus a.k.a. Dr. Liz and Beth Weaver.
Be inspired and encouraged to Pimp Your Sweater with Kelli Johnson.

And last but not least; wear your finest knits and have a professional portrait taken in our Photo Studio by the one and only Wesley Moguel.

Sit in our garden. Eat gummi bears. Grab a fancy coffee concoction accross the street from our friends at Alan Rays Coffe Place. Make new connections, make new friends. Let's keep building this incredible community of makers that we are.

Oh, and Elisabeth says that I should mention that there will be a smattering of Goods & Heroes goods available, that there will be discounts on yarns from Blue Sky Fiber, Kelbourne Woolens, Baa Ram Ewe, Plied Yarn Co. and that there there will be a raffle. She also says to bring some of your own needles if you are reading this in time....

The future is handmade.
Let's create it! Together.

With Love,
Suzanna
