🌸 A Little Dilly Dally Update 🌸
Hey, friends! ❤️ I wanted to give everyone a little update on what’s been going on with our family and Dilly Dally Dahlias.
What started about four weeks ago with us thinking Mason had hurt his neck during weight class while doing calf raises has turned into quite the unexpected journey! Long story short, after one urgent care visit and three ER visits, we finally discovered he had an abscess in the back and side of his throat. He was in SO much pain. 😢
Last Thursday, he was transported by ambulance to OHSU Doernbecher Children’s Hospital, where he had surgery through his mouth to drain the abscess. Thankfully, we got to go home Saturday!
Fast-forward to Wednesday, when we called his ENT doctor for a follow-up and were told to bring him back to the ER for another evaluation. After another CT scan, we found out the abscess had come back and was sitting farther back in his neck.
So here we were again at OHSU with our boy Wednesday night. This time, he had surgery with drain tubes placed in his neck. The good news is that it’s now Sunday the 11th and his drain tubes have just been removed, and we’ve just been released to come home!
During all of this, my mother-in-law was also in the hospital, which made these past few weeks even more overwhelming for our family. We’ve been trying to support everyone and take things one day at a time.
The doctors say basically an infected lymph node spread and formed an abscess, which moved toward the side of his neck with gravity. They also think they may not have been able to get all of it the first time so then it came back.
To say these past few weeks have been a lot is an understatement! Between the worry, the hospital trips, my mother-in-law being hospitalized, and missing the last couple of weekends of dahlia season, my heart has been pulled in a million directions. Family will always come first, but I sure am missing my little flower stand! 🌸
Now for some Dilly Dally news! Since we’ve been closed the past two weekends, I’ve decided to keep bouquets stocked at the stand throughout the week while blooms last! 💐 So if you’ve been wanting to grab some dahlias, keep an eye out for fresh bouquets.
I’m estimating that I’ll be digging up the dahlias around November 1st, so we’re trying to enjoy every last bloom this season has left to give! 🌸
Thank you all so much for your patience, kindness, and continued support. Every like, comment, message, means more than you know. ❤️ We’re taking things one day at a time and hoping our boy is finally on the road to feeling better.
Much love from our family to yours! 🌸❤️
