American Wood Flags is a small shop in Trussville, Alabama where I hand-build wooden American flags one at a time. I started making flags simply because I enjoyed it — and people liked the way they turned out. No mass production. No shortcuts. The four weeks isn't padding. It's torch, stain, stars, seal, and cure — one flag at a time, all of it by me.

These stripes aren't printed on — they're raised, cut and layered so the light catches the edges. Run a hand across it and you feel the ridges. That texture is why a wood flag reads as real from across the room and up close both.

Veterans Day is November 11. If you want a wood flag on the wall by then, October 7 is the last day I can start one.

That's not a countdown gimmick — it's just how long it takes. Cut, torched, stained one stripe at a time, sealed, then left to cure. About four weeks, and then it still has to ship.

I served 1999 to 2003, 31R, out of Mannheim. So the 11th isn't an abstract date around here.
