It's just me out here. One person, one bench, one flag at a time. No assembly line, no crew, no warehouse of identical product. When you get one of these, you're getting something a real person cut, torched, stained, and sealed by hand — and stood back to look at before it went out the door. That's the whole idea.

No two of these are ever the same. The grain in a board decides half of it — where the lines run, how the stain sits, which knots show. I don't fight that. I let each piece of pine be what it is, and the flag comes out one of a kind every time. That's the trade-off with real wood: you can't make two identical. You wouldn't want to.

There's a moment with every flag where the torch comes out. You can't rush it. Too fast and the wood scorches; too slow and it won't take that deep, weathered char. So you move the flame steady across the grain and watch the pine darken into something that looks like it's been through a few winters — because that's the point. It's not paint. It's the wood itself, changed by hand.
