CERAMIC COTTAGE: We Will be closed on Saturday, September 5 for Observance of Labor Day

After closing at 3:30 PM CST on Friday, September 4 Ceramic Cottage (CerCot) will not re-open until the following Wednesday, September 9 at 9:30 AM CST.

I hope all our customers and their families are surviving this kiln-like weather and that the switch gets turned to "off" soon! A year ago I commented "I hope all our customers are enjoying this Fall-like weather."

Despite the fire at our pouring house, life goes on at Ceramic Cottage (CerCot).

Within the last two or so weeks we have received shipments of bisque and Trinity clay. Our inventory continues to be pretty replete.

CERAMIC COTTAGE: FIRE at Our Business but We Are OPEN

The red wooden house (what we have traditionally referred to as the "pouring house") located about 8 feet to the immediate north of Ceramic Cottage (CerCot) and owned by Ann Milligan's heirs suffered a fire that probably began around 11:15 PM on the evening of Tuesday, August 4. I strongly suspect that the cause of the fire was arson since that building has no natural gas service and the electricity to the room where the fire began was not on. Supporting this suspicion is the fact that earlier that very same evening, the Tulsa Fire Department responded to another fire in the same block of South Wheeling Avenue.

LUCKILY the BRICK building where we conduct business was NOT damaged at all and we are in fact OPEN for normal business hours today (Wednesday, August 5th).

CERAMIC COTTAGE: Amaco Glaze Order

Ceramic Cottage (CerCot) received a non-trivial order of glaze from Amaco (American Art and Clay Company) on Friday, July 24 2026. It is already available on our shelves.

Figuratively speaking, our inventory of Amaco glazes has gone from the outhouse to the penthouse.

CERAMIC COTTAGE: Business Hours for the Fourth of July Holiday

Ceramic Cottage (CerCot) will be closed on Saturday, July 4, 2026. We will re-open at 9:30 AM on the following Wednesday, July 8.

We at CerCot want our customers and their loved ones to have a safe and thoroughly enjoyable holiday. So we STRONGLY recommend that our customers use Google to make the following query:

how to avoid being injured by fireworks

and closely read the Google AI result.

As a 5-6 year old child I was injured by a 1 1/2 inch firecracker having a fuse that was too short to safely light and toss it. It went off in my right hand and one of the fingers on that hand began to bleed profusely. Fortunately I was lucky and the injury wasn't permanent.

So PLEASE don't do something dumb like shooting Roman Candles at each other, lighting and throwing firecrackers or other fireworks at each other, shooting off rockets, fountains, etc. near quantities of dead grass or other readily combustible materials, letting children light and/or throw fireworks or letting children use sparklers without very close supervision.
And please don't drink and drive - not your boat or any kind of vehicle. To quote good old Benjamin Franklin, "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure."

Our stock of Trinity clay is also in good shape, as are our supplies of slip and just about everything else we carry.

CERAMIC COTTAGE: Mayco Glaze Re-stock

Yesterday (May 15) Ceramic Cottage (CerCot) received a substantial shipment of Mayco glazes. Essentially every Mayco glaze color we normally carry should now be fully stocked with the exception of a very few colors that were backordered.

====> Please be aware that Mayco arbitrarily decided to discontinue offering some of their colors in smaller volumes / bottle sizes - something entirely beyond our control. That is reflected in this order. Most, if not all of those colors are still available but only in larger-sized containers, at least for now. We apologize for the inconvenience. *** However - pending discussing this with Barry *** - I am considering possibly offering to refill the (appropriately cleaned) smaller bottles of popular colors that our customers bring in and charging the appropriate price to keep customer costs down. ***** Please give us input on Face Book regarding that idea.

CERAMIC COTTAGE: Photos of Kiln and Samples Made from Recently Acquired Molds

We are VERY fortunate to have enthusiastic highly talented helpers who painted the samples. We can’t thank them enough.
