Had so much fun with my September challenge ( posting a photo from my daily walks and pairing it with a weaving I have done that has the same vibe). I think I’ll occasionally post more of these

The leaves are just beginning to turn in southwest Michigan.

The weaving is a round piece featuring fall trees.

Encountered lots of pretty little bugs and butterflies on my walk today. Seems like everyone is out soaking up these glorious fall days while the sun is shining.

Today’s weavings are from a collection of wall hangings I did back in 2024. It was the year of the cicada and I found these cool little metal cicadas to attach to weavings.

Both lake and sky at Warren Dunes State Park were beautiful shades of blue yesterday! 💙🩵🤍💙🩵🤍

This big blue and white weaving combined a couple of fun alternatives to traditional weaving. First, much of the weft is strips of fabric that have been twisted or knotted to create a “yarn.” And speaking of the weft, did you notice that it runs top to bottom ( instead of horizontally )? I just love texture and movement of this piece that was woven a few years ago.

Today’s adventure included wandering around on the pier at South Haven and taking a fun sailing cruise on the Michigan Maritime Museum Friends Good Will.

Keeping with the nautical theme, these woven starfish fit the bill (ok, we don’t have starfish in MI 😂). They were woven on metal shapes, and were hard on the fingers! But they did turn out really cute.

Today the beach was crowded with seagulls soaking up the end of summer sun.

These long skinny weavings are so much fun to make! This one used a lot of hand spun yarn and some little hidden treasures.

The storms that were gearing up out on the lake yesterday have made an entrance today. No walk this morning, but perfect weather for weaving! Thankfully, my sweet fiber buddy lent me her new peg loom.
Weaving friends, have you used a peg loom? What kind of projects have you done? It is fascinating how this little thing works.

I’m still in awe of the beautiful gardens and trails at our local senior center. My short walk yesterday reminded me of a little series of weavings I did last year. Can you spot the tiny fairy door?
