Let's get-away! This guest home project was designed for relaxing in central Austin, Texas. The European wide plank hardwood floors are fumed to give it the aged look and ground the space. But it's the abundance of natural light and the warmth of other wood materials that make it come alive and cozy while being connected to the backyard.

Improve your hex life...nature certainly has noticed it but have you? Why does it even matter, especially when we are talking about a hex tile shape. To name a few: human chemistry, bees, dragonflies, turtle shells and even the North Pole of Saturn all place a high value on this hex shape. With tile design, the hex is simple, symmetrical and often, has the task of evoking unity. Perhaps this is the overall by product we seek to achieve when using a hexagonal tile. This bathroom was our attempt at hex awareness.

Feel like coloring outside the lines?
Like so many other things, the use of color and pattern tile can provoke our senses and contribute to the state of emotion(s). Often, it is liberating and a fun use of self expression. The commitment to create with this medium, on a more permanent basis, can seem a bit of a scary thing. With the simple design of this small modern kitchen, it was intentionally kept simple. The blue geometric tile mosaic and the ordered satin nickel pulls will create the peaceful vibe the home owner was looking for in the kitchen.

Does walnut hardwood flooring intrigue you or is it just an okay look? Because of it's warm tones and long, often pronounced grain, it can command attention. It is considered a classy domestic finish that does stand the test of time both in a modern or traditional home. This project was a collaboration between Cobb Development and Castle Flooring. The home was a new build with modern design in central Austin, Texas. In this case, the walnut provided personality to the home. While taking advantage of lighting and some details like the wood divider, the home felt artful and unique. All it needed was the new home owner's personal touch.
