Unfortunately, I may be the end of the line for craftsmen, in my family. I was the only grandchild to study my grandfather's techniques and abilities to recreate, restore, and even reimagine antique wooden furniture. Grandpa worked with the great furniture companies of Grand Rapids, Michigan - Baker, Hekman, Irwin Seating, and American seating, from the 1920's forward, as a Master Cabinetmaker, designer, and assembler of some of the finest furniture in the world.

The one thing that Charles Elmer Olson taught and reinforced in me from an early age was, "The wood has a soul of its own. It is the responsibility of the Craftsman/artist, to reach into that soul and lift it to the surface..."
