My abstract art is typically composed to avoid the "put some paint down and mush it around” syndrome. Sometimes there is spontaneity but I typically start with a planned approach with a design in mind. Here my abstract painting (in its new home) is built on contrasts dark versus light values; large versus small shapes; saturated versus neutral colors; geometric shapes versus organic, gestural lines. What holds these contrasting elements together? A simple H composition. Both vertical sides of the H are handled differently; the lower right extends farther, firmly anchoring the other three arms. I am always thrilled when when a collector says "that's the one"!

Crazy about the new scarves!
Who wouldn’t dream of taking a journey right now. Traveling in the past, in dreams or unusual trail, my new scarf collection tells stories and source of my inspiration.
These featherweight cashmere (72” x 14”) combines bright and alive colors and edged in self fringed softness. The color placements allows for draping in ways that show certain colors while others stay hidden. These versatile woven stories created from my art are now a joyful journey to wear. Abstract landscapes are both abstract and a landscape. This method of painting can involve a great deal of creative expression either by altering scenery that exists in real life or by creating an imagined setting. ... I abstract the landscape by breaking it down into simple colors and shapes. Some say my paintings look fuzzy. I like a soft edge and subtle color changes to make a landscape ethereal and dreamy.
I think it’s easy to live with and makes you feel something...

I feel so fortunate and thankful to be able to wake up everyday and do what I love. I often mention the C & O Canal as my inspiration for many of my painting but I know it is a favorite for many.
