Why Vintage Feels Like Home to Me
Sometimes it’s not the food that brings everyone together—it’s the table.
When I look at this vintage Lazy Susan, I don’t just see a serving dish. I imagine a kitchen filled with conversation, laughter, and people helping themselves to one more cracker, one more olive, one more story.
Growing up, gatherings weren’t about perfect tablescapes or expensive entertaining. They were about making room for family, neighbors, and friends. The serving dishes came out of the cabinet, everyone gathered around, and somehow ordinary moments became the ones we remember forever.
It’s easy to tuck beautiful vintage pieces away because they’re “too nice” to use.
But I think they were made for exactly these moments.
They deserve to hold appetizers during game night, cookies at Christmas, fruit on a Sunday afternoon, or snacks while grandchildren visit. Every scratch and every shared meal becomes part of their story.
This week, I’m reminding myself to stop saving the pretty dishes for someday.
Use them. Enjoy them. Let them become part of your family’s memories.
Because vintage doesn’t belong hidden in a cabinet.
It belongs around a table... where life happens. 🤍
