Returning Home🏡 A Concord retreat reflects a return to roots.

It began, as many great endeavors do, with a simple nudge from family. The homeowner’s sister spotted the listing first: a tear-down on twelve acres in Concord, Massachusetts, where the sisters had been raised. With three young children and a desire for more land, the couple began imagining a different pace of life. The wife, a trained architect, was especially drawn to the prospect of building from scratch. Moving back to Massachusetts offered proximity to extended family and the rare opportunity to shape a home with intention.

In coastal Rhode Island, where salt air drifts through open windows and watercolor skies melt into the horizon, this historic waterfront home was poised for its next chapter. After roughly two decades in the family’s care, it was time to gently reimagine the home for its next season by the sea.

Set along a sheltered harbor, the custom residence was designed around a simple premise: make the most of the setting while creating a home that feels deeply liveable. The house pairs expansive harbor views with intimate garden moments, substantial stonework with light-filled interiors, and an impressive sense of scale with spaces that feel comfortably lived in.
