I've decided to retire. I'm 75 and moving back to Pa to help care for an older sister who has recently became vision impared. As such I'm selling my web site url, www.strictlymission.com. We are ready to start accepting students for our woodworking classes. The first class will be to build a small end table with a drawer, and a bottom shelf. The student will have the option of putting the shelf under the top or under the bottom shelf. The cost of the course is $900 and includes all the quartersawn white oak needed to build the table, a comprehensive safety course covering all the woodworking tools you will be using and a month of shop time to complete the project. There will a 5 day intensive course starting at noon, Sunday, June 1. This first day will encompass the safety course. The next 4 days will be devoted to selecting, cutting, planeing, fitting and finishing the table. Individuals will be allowed the use of the shop for the entire month of June to complete their project. Contact either MIke or Tim at the Fredericksburg Workshop, at 540-358-5418, or me. This course will be followed by a class on a drop arm morris chair and a class on a Frank Lloyd Wright style dining room chair.

I have developed preliminary outlines for three courses, End Table, Morris Chair and Prairie Style Dining Room Chair. My original plan was to include a sideboard but it was decided this was too big and heavy for the shop space available for multiple students.
Classes will be open to adults over 18, or over 14 when accompanied by an adult. Cost of each course will include an allowance for materials other than hardware, i.e. drawer pulls and hinges, and is based on using quartersawn white oak. Final approval of the details is pending by the Fredericksburg Workshop. Once details are finalized they will be posted here and at the Workshop.

I'm developing three furniture making courses to be taught on weekends at the Fredericksburg Workshop. One course will be a make a simple Mission Style end table with with a shelf and dovetailed drawer. The second course will be an L&JG Stickley Style drop arm morris chair, and the third course will be a Limbert style sideboard. All three projects will use quartersawn white oak and will be built using mortise and tenon joinery. Course cost will include all materials and instruction. Cushions for the Morris Chair are extra. Traditional shellac finish will be used, however having your project get a sprayed satin lacquer finish is available at an additional fee.

Each workshop course is limited to 3 participants. If you are interested in additional information call me at 610-428-2930. Ask for Wynn.

The weather finally cooperated and the table top got it's finish applied. While the base and underside are finished in shellac, the top and edges are finished in 5 coats of satin lacquer.

The base for my current project, a Prairie style dining room table in Cherry with Walnut accents, is finished and assembled. It will be partially disassembled for shipment. The top is made but needs to have the drop leaf ends finished and attached. The base is finished in a traditional shellac finish but the top will have several coats of satin lacquer for a more durable finish.

Between holidays and snow storms, another one coming tonight, it's been slow going. And, while the Fredericksburg Workshop is a great place to do most of the work, it is very dusty. So , I've decided to do most of the finishing and assembly, especially of the base as home. The photos here are of the base pieces. The stretchers, slats and spindles are ready for assembly. I still have to attach the walnut banding and feet to the legs before assembling the the base. The top will be finished at the shop with satin lacquer.

The hand hammered drip pan for the umbrella stand has been completed and is being shipped to my customer in California. It will be there in the next few days and then I will have a photo of the two together. Until the here is a photo of the drip pan with the Roycroft Rennisance mark on the left edge about in the middle of the apron.

The not so mission umbrella stand was finished on Friday and shipped to my customer in North Hollywood.

While working on a Prairie style dining table I am also working on a kinky non Mission style umbrella stand. It has an upper and lower "ring" that has a "stadium" shape with 4 exterior "legs". This photos shows the Umbrella stand lying on it's side. The small clamps are holding the legs to the rings. The flat pieces are just temporary spacers to hold the rings in position until everything is finished and assembled. We have a Roycroft Artisan making a hand hammered copper drip pan.

I finally dug out the Dard Hunter dinner ware I had in storage since 2015. It consists of 6 dining pieces, an oval serving platter and a round charger platter. This is being posted at $375 minimum with professional packaging and shipping included. Or; best offer by 9pm this Friday 12/12/21
