The Raspberry Buffet-Refurbished Furniture and Home Decor

The Raspberry Buffet-Refurbished Furniture and Home Decor Hi-I’m Cathy Daley. I am the owner of The Raspberry Buffet-Refurbished Furniture and Home Decor. For most of my adult life I worked in Human Resources. Cathy

Hi- My name is Cathy Daley and I am the owner of The Raspberry Buffet. Outside of work I would refurbish furniture for my own personal use and every time I had opportunity to be creative in this way I loved it! I recently retired from my HR profession (which I also loved) and decided to refurbish furniture full time. For the past 18 months I have been watching how-to videos, reading books and work

ing on refurbishing furniture and home decor to refine my skills. One of the first pieces I worked on after I retired from HR was a buffet that I painted in a raspberry color. I loved how it turned out! Because of this, and as a nod to Prince, I thought I would name my business The Raspberry Buffet. You know....the kind you find in a second-hand furniture store! 🙂
As I continue to build my business I will post items for sale on my business FB page. If you would like to contact me using my email address of [email protected] or via Messenger to inquire about my work on custom furniture and home decor please do so at any time. I would be happy to work with you to turn your outdated piece into something you love!

I love this little table and chairs. If I had a cabin with an eat-in kitchen that is where I would have this pretty set.
You’ll notice there is space under the table top to store items such as plates, napkins, silverware, etc.
It would also work well for a young couple in their first home, or a college student living on their own after dorm life.
It was painted using Fusion Mineral pain in the color Ash.
Come see it in person at my store- 17688 Cty Rd 18 - Utica until 5 today, or tomorrow between 9-2pm.
Message me to view it outside store hours.

While I was working on this Philco TV cabinet I was thinking about practical ways to use it.
I thought a small beverage frig might fit into the top portion with can coozies stored in a basket below. Or a computer printer could be placed inside the top section with a laptop and other supplies stored below.
What do you think of my ideas?
Remember- tomorrow I open my store!
Stop by my place and go for a flower walk around the yard after you shop.

I started one last furniture project to have ready next week when my store is open.
This is a small dresser that was is very rough shape.
I’ve added captions to each photo to outline my steps.
So far it has been a lot of work, but I’m feeling very good about my progress.
I’ll post again once this little dresser project is complete.

A number of years ago my dad gave me a ladder that he had stored in his shed. This ladder had been built by my grandpa, Philip Terhaar. My dad said after my grandpa built the ladder he carved his initials into it; P.H.T.
His cousin thought he would be funny and he changed the letters to read R.A.T.
I recently hung the ladder from the ceiling in my occasional store after wrapping willow branches around it and placing hydrangeas and lights on it. I love being able to display it where I see it every day.
It makes me smile thinking about the story my dad shared with me.

Most of my custom furniture pieces have featured a two-tone effect, combining paint and stain. What's your style: all stain, all paint, or two-tone?
All pictures here feature the two-tone effect.

Benches are perfect for an entryway or at the end of a bed.
I have three of them I've refurbished recently and they are now for sale. They are each outlined below.
I will also be posting these items on FBMP soon along with more pictures of each piece.

Which type of bench do you like best?
*Tufted
*All wood
*Cedar chest

1. The first bench has a tufted top and was painted with Fusion Mineral paint in a beautiful neutral called Cathedral Taupe. The fabric that was on top was replaced with this stunning floral fabric in taupe and green. It is tufted on top with buttons I covered in the same fabric. Up to 8 1/4" tall basket would fit on the shelf of this bench.
18" T x 16.5" D x 40" L $160

2. The second bench was sanded down to bare wood on top, then a light paint wash was done so the grain would still be visible. The legs were painted in coal black. If wanting to put a basket underneath, the basket could be up to 17" tall.
18" T x 14" D x 48" L $95

3. SOLD
The third picture is of a cedar chest by Lane. It was totally redone as it was in bad shape and needed modern update. The outdated trim pieces and hardware were removed. The cedar lined inside was cleaned and polished. The top was given new fabric on the cushion, and the bottom was painted in Elmwood by Fusion Mineral paint. 18 3/4" T x 17" D x 47" L $185
The pillows in the picture are also for sale at $18 each.
I added the before picture of the cedar chest below for fun. :)

Hi everyone!
I have not opened my occasional store since last fall as I converted it into my workspace last November. Once the weather warms up I'll be able to complete more projects in our shed and have my garage all cleaned up and ready to open my store once again.

Here are a few furniture pieces I have for sale now!
I'll be posting them on FB Marketplace as well with many more pictures of each item. I would prefer all questions/inquiries be made via FBMP, however I will also check here for messages.

1. This small cabinet was painted in a soft green. New drawer and door pulls were added in black to match the wire front cabinet doors. This piece measures 29" T x 26" W x 11" deep. It would be perfect in an entryway, kitchen, or anywhere you want a pop of green color. $110.

2. This stunning dresser is an antique bowfront dresser painted in coal black. The top was stained with Early American. It is a solid mahogany piece with dovetailed joints showcasing the high-quality craftsmanship. The hardware is original to the piece, and the gold really pops against the black body of the dresser.
52 1/4" T x 36" W x 21" D $315

3. The first side table pictured is a six-sided (hexagon) shape in coal black. This is such a cool blast from the past and has a LOT of storage space inside. 28" corner-to-corner 24 1/2" W 24" T $85

4. This side table was sanded down to bare wood. A paint wash was applied next which resulted in a airy, light finish that shows off the beautiful wood grain. 24" D x 21" W x 19" T $80

5. Every home needs plants, and lots of them! This plant stand was painted using Fusion Mineral Paint in Elmwood. The top was sanded to bare wood and a paint wash applied to keep it light in color. It has one drawer and decorative scalloped edges making it perfect for any room in your home. 31.5" T x 12" W x 12" D $75
