Equine Muscle Fact Friday 🐴💪

Each Friday, we’ll spotlight a muscle commonly evaluated during an equine bodywork session.

This week’s focus: the brachiocephalic muscle, highlighted in pink below.

Function:
🐴Pull the foreleg forward
🐴Lower the neck and head
🐴When the leg is planted, it will help flex the head and neck to the side

Common Issues to Watch For:
🔴Sensitivity in this muscle can point to neck discomfort
🔴Tightness on one side may limit the horse’s ability to bend
🔴Variations in muscle tightness may alter movement patterns, at times leading to a shorter stride
