Long story short, a few wipes of cleaner and I was made aware of pretty quickly that restoring the tray on this gorgeous table was not meant to be. The damage to the tray itself is pretty bad, it looks like maybe something corrosive was spilled on it or something. Not sure, with some careful planning you could place items to cover them. Or you could display with pride as is. Under that tray is the most gorgeous wood I have seen in a very long time. Mahogany in a burl pattern. The table has a spot with a piece of veneer missing and I few small
scratches. I tried to get the flaws in the photos. Whoever ends up with this beauty will surely have a conversation piece. $45 Booth 69, lower level Bernat Antiques

I was lucky enough to find this amazing table today. It’s an oval side table made from Mahogany, with a removable tray top with brass inlay and handle. I’m sure at one time there was two handles, honestly I don’t care. When you remove the tray there is a gorgeous top of burl wood. Just wow. No way I’m painting it, but it does have some pretty significant damage. I’ll do a bit of research on how best to clean that tray top, if anyone has some good tips send them my way. Got this pretty little lady for quite the bargain. Was she in rough shape? Yep. I fixed her up a little, decided not to paint because that wood is gorgeous. 😍. Is she perfect? Nope.
