As a vendor at The Purple Painted Lady festival, we were gifted an apron. Instead of folding it up and putting it away, I turned it into a “utility” tote. See you the third weekend in September for the 2026 gathering.

While waiting for winter to pass in western NY, working with bright, ‘happy’ prints has become a necessity! This stunning batik was a joy to work with and helped pass the time during the overcast days (which were quite frequent❄️❄️)

Created these samples for a local quilt shop as an example for the kits they will be selling. It was a delight to work with the fabrics because many of them are cotton linen blends in a light weight canvas weave.

Finished an upholstery tote earlier this week. My ‘to-do’ list is outlined as I head into the wintery (sewing) weekend❄️. No plans to leave the house!!

I’ve been day dreaming about bringing this combination together for months. Dipped into my pile of family jeans that I’ve collected over the years, cut the squares, then added the silk strips that were sari remnants collected by a women’s cooperative. The resulting color contrast is eye catching.

Finished this one before the blustery weather engulfed western NY❄️. Included is a photo of the inside to show that the totes have a zippered pocket along with a row of pockets, one is small enough for pens & pencils so they are readily accessible. Came across the upholstery fabric as we were traveling through Minnesota this past summer.

Made a simple wall hanging from a panel several years ago but didn’t have wall space for it. 🙁 It was off in the corner of my sewing area for quite a while, waiting for its next purpose. Loved the colors and the print and finally remade it into a useful tote.

Took a detour from totes to make a tree skirt for my daughter. She liked the ragged, country style and fortunately I had several pieces of homespun with holiday colors.
