There are many ways to make drawer boxes. Getting that perfect cut for the bottom to fit snug like a glove is very satisfying. It's so easy to over shoot the mark and make too big of a slot. Then you've got a sloppy bottom. Nobody wants a sloppy bottom. 🤣 So, you have to just creep up on it.
Take your time, get it right, and work smarter. 🤙

I knew these boards would bow a little bit after I ripped them down to thinner pieces. So, I cut them 1/16 wider than needed to allow for that. By leaving that little bit extra it helps to make up for any unforeseen imperfection.

Now, I just have to trim the fat! I trim 1/32 from each side to get them all to the same width. It also ensures your finished boards are straight.

Blade cleaning day!

Some people think when a blade starts leaving burn marks on the wood, that the blade is dull and they want to replace it. More likely it's just dirty and needs cleaned.

There are cleaning systems you can buy, but I prefer my $100 in my pocket. This system cost me about $14. I'll take it!

A lam glue up is always an adventure. You're either prepared for it, or you think you're prepared for it, only to be scrambling to get support boards, a damp rag, more clamps, or something that you forgot to get before you started.

Sometimes you hit the mark and sometimes you're cleaning and wiping up glue like crazy hoping and praying that the squeeze out doesn't dry or stick too much. Some folks wipe the squeeze out immediately and some wait 15-20 minutes where it can be easily scraped off.

What method do you use to help control all that mess?
