Someone told me to use museum wax to secure items to flat surfaces. I bought some museum wax. I applied it to my rock so that it would stand up on my desk. My desk is an old secretary desk that I refinished back in the mid 1980s. It has three coats of polyurethane on it. I decided I don’t want that rock on my desk anymore, I want to put it outside. I removed it from my desk. Unfortunately I couldn’t remove the museum wax. I tried using a razor blade and I did the best I could with the razor blade, but I didn’t want to damage the polyurethane. I tried regular Dawn to see if that would loosen it up but it didn’t so I pulled out my Blue Goop.  IT WORKED LIKE A CHARM.  I figured if came off my desk, let me try to get it off at the bottom of the rock.  I scraped off as much wax as I could with my fingernail, but it was still tacky, and the wax was still stuck in the little grooves. I applied my Blue Goop. It took some of the paint off my rock, but that’s OK. I can fix that.  I tried making a video for you, but I didn’t have my set up and for some reason, I only got two seconds of the video so it wasn’t worth sharing.  I took the blue group that was left over from cleaning the desk added a little more to it to clean the rock.  That little pile in front of the rock is what was left of the blue goop after rubbing it on the rock and the desk.
