I did go to art school for a little bit… but honestly, most of what I know came from trial, error, and absolutely RUINING a few canvases along the way 😂🎨 You just gotta keep going until something finally looks right!

✨ A little Smart Rustics update! ✨

As I’ve been healing from a severe case of shingles and the lingering nerve pain that came along with it, I’ve been taking things a little slower than usual. ❤️‍🩹

I’m using the month of August to catch up on artwork that I wasn’t able to work on over the past three weeks while I was sick. Because of that, you may notice that some of the artwork I’ll be sharing over the next few weeks is from clients who placed their orders before I got sick.

I’m happy to say that I plan to begin accepting new commissions starting September 1st! 🎨✨

I’ll also be sharing this year’s Christmas ornaments very soon, so keep an eye out for those! 🎄

This idea came to me one night, and I couldn’t wait to bring it to life. I’ve been seeing the Marlboro-inspired trend and wanted to create my own interpretation a cowgirl smoking a $100 bill.

At first glance, it’s bold. But to me, it’s about so much more.

The deep red represents resilience, passion, and the courage to keep moving forward. The bandana is a reminder that not every battle is visible. And the $100 bill isn’t about money….it’s about refusing to let material things, expectations, or the opinions of others determine your worth. True wealth is found in freedom, peace, and knowing who you are.

This piece became one of my favorites because it represents a quiet kind of strength the kind that’s built through hardship, growth, and choosing to rise anyway.

A quick update from Smart Rustics ❤️

Due to an unexpected health issue, I will not be accepting any new commissions until further notice.

When I was first diagnosed with shingles, I honestly didn’t realize how much it could affect me. I quickly learned that it’s something that needs to be taken seriously as today I was diagnosed with a severe case of it. The pain has made even simple daily tasks difficult, and right now my focus needs to be on healing while continuing to work on my current orders.

I truly appreciate everyone who has reached out, shown interest, and continues to support my small business. I promise I’ll be back and healthy soon, and I can’t wait to start talking with y’all about Christmas gifts, ornaments, and all the fun things coming up.
