Sometime between Wednesday night and Thursday morning, one of our customerâs motorhomes was broken into while parked on our lot. A homeless womanâunder the influence of drugs and alcoholâunlawfully entered the vehicle and deliberately destroyed nearly every inch of the interior.
This was not a situation where someone was seeking shelter, food, or water. She did not sleep. She did not attempt to use the space for basic survival. Instead, she used the few hours inside to cause as much destruction as possible. Food was opened, smeared, and dumped outânot consumed. Clothing was not worn but shredded. Beds were not slept inâthey were urinated and defecated on. Laundry soap, rather than being used, was poured across the floors. Every surfaceâfloor to ceilingâwas smeared with items like dog food, ketchup, peanut butter, powdered sugar, and mustard.
Cake mix and sprinkles were shoved into air vents. Cooking oil and lighter fluid were poured onto the stovetop. The defrost vent was soaked in a mix of Tide detergent and mustard. Pool noodles were tied to the steering wheel with shoelaces, and cans of dog food were suspended from the rearview mirror. The seats were saturated with mouthwash, body soap, and shaving cream. The shower was also used as a toilet. Even their DVD collection was vandalized with kitchen knives.
This is only a fraction of what was done.
Itâs important to note that the motorhome was exceptionally clean and tidy prior to the break-in. Everything you see in the photos happened overnight.
Before we could assess the damage for insurance, the space had to be cleaned. Without hesitation, Two Girls & A Broom cleared their schedule and were on-site within three hours. Lori and Dusty worked tirelessly for hoursâwithout complaintâto help us begin putting things back together. Their effort, professionalism, and grace under pressure did not go unnoticed.
Lori and Dusty, thank youâfrom the bottom of our hearts. Your help meant more than you know.
To our customer who owns the motor home, thank you for your grace and understanding during a situation that should never have happened.
We also want to thank the Warrensburg Police Department for their quick response and for safely removing the individual from our premises. Their professionalism and efficiency ensured the situation was handled without further escalation.
As for the larger conversation around homelessness, addiction, and public safetyâIâll reserve my thoughts for another time. But in the meantime, please be aware, be vigilant, and above all, be kind.
