TOOLS OF THE TRADE
As a witch you really do not need any tool to make magyk. AND MOST CERTAINLY do not need to buy a bunch of special items.
Our abilities are in our own chemistry and mind. Those are our main tools. With that said, there are many of us who use particular tools to help us invision our power, enhance our perception or just make us “feel” more witchy (get in the mood). Becouse of the nature in which we conduct our individual practices, these tools can vary greatly. Not every witch uses an altar. Not every witch works indoor or outdoors. Not all witches use wax candles or salt, for that matter. Some practices are developed from books while others from family, covens, or just borne.
Below I’ve compiled my top 10 tools that are basic items. Know this, as you practice and gain experience many things will change including the tools of your trade so I suggest that you try to keep it simple and cheap until you are well established in your practice. Even after years, you are likely to find old tools that you no longer use cluttering up your space. Also things that you need and are meant to be used by you will find their way to you if given time.
Basic material tools depends on how you practice and with what you relate to in magyk. An example here is a witch who work strictly with energy as apossed to one who works with herbs. One may have a large cache of herbs and several types of vessels whilst the other has no need for herbs and a collection of rods, swords and wands.
Below is a list of 10 basic tools that can be hand made, found in home or in nature, purchased from stores or thrift shops.
As many have said: “you need not a thing but you and your abilities. “
BUT if having a few items helps you then do as you will. Here are my top 10 basic tools, take what resonates:
