Furniture restoration is HARD. 😮‍💨

It’s messy, time consuming, repetitive, and sometimes makes you question why you ever started.

But then you finish… step back… and see what you brought back to life. ✨

That dopamine rush? THAT’S why we do it. 🤎

First restoration since becoming a Cali resident! 🌴☀️✅

I’m SO glad I decided to bring these tables home with me from New York! They were beautiful when I found them, but after days of sanding and a whole lot of patience, they’re even better than I imagined. 🤎

That deep chocolate stain brought out so much warmth and character in the wood, and I’m obsessed with how they turned out!

From a $60 Facebook Marketplace find in NY ➡️ to their new life in California. ✨

From a $60 Facebook Marketplace find in New York to THIS… 😍✨

Part 2 of restoring these 1972 vintage tables is finally here!

This project definitely pushed me outside of my comfort zone, but every restoration I take on gives me a little more confidence. And honestly, seeing the finished pieces makes all those hours of sanding worth it. ❤️

If you love the beautiful grain of mahogany but find the red tones a little too overwhelming, bleaching the wood can be a great solution. 🤎

It doesn’t ruin the wood itself, it simply lightens much of those deep red and brown tones while allowing the natural grain to shine through.

And on solid wood pieces, the bleaching only affects the surface, so if you change your mind down the road, you can sand it back and reveal those original rich mahogany tones again.

Would you ever bleach a beautiful mahogany piece, or would you leave the original color alone? 👇🏼

$60 Facebook Marketplace find… and this restoration is coming with me to California! 😍🌴

Part 1: sanding, sanding, and MORE sanding. 😂

The little sanding tool I use on almost EVERY furniture restoration. 👏🏼

If you’re into DIY furniture, furniture flipping, or refinishing vintage furniture, you need a good set of contour sanding blocks in your toolbox!

I’ve had this set for two years and reach for it on almost every project. They’re especially helpful for sanding curved edges, detailed profiles, crevices, and hard-to-reach areas where an electric sander just won’t work.

You can attach different grits of sandpaper and sand detailed areas without flattening or ruining the original shape of the furniture. 🙌🏼

And if you’ve ever restored a piece with lots of curves and details… you already know that sanding is A LOT of work. 😂

Now that these vintage tables are finally sanded, I can’t wait to show you what I do with them next!

These two tables immediately caught my eye! The carved details, original hardware, and those beautiful legs have SO much potential.

They’re vintage Jacobean Revival-style tables, and although they’re definitely showing their age, I think they could become something really special. 🤎

Now the big question… what do you think I’ll be able to sell the pair for after restoration?

Drop your guess below! 👇🏼
And come back for the transformation! ✨
