KristPattern Crochet projects and patterns+printed fabric and paper+embroidery patterns and projects+more by Kristen Jeffers. I'm re-writing my own great work of urbanism.

I, Kristen grew up in Greensboro, North Carolina around fabric and sewing machines and a little bit of yarn. Yet, in my first foray into the professional world, I became a writer and urban planner instead. I still write a lot, especially in my monthly newsletter or whenever I have something really important to say. I still walk people through great works of urbanism, especially those written by Bl

ack women and queer writers. But, I truly find joy, when I have a crochet hook, or an embroidery needle or my Prismacolor colored pencils in hand, stitching and drawing masterpieces that I can wear and put on other objects. It can take a long time to write a book or plan a city. But you can crochet a hat in about an afternoon, sometimes less. You can draw a beautiful picture in moments. I created Kristpattern to bridge(pun intended) the gap between the projects I do that have a longer incubation time and ones that I can do quickly. I am also putting more energy and time in this, after a decade of primarily doing my other work, because I see how slow fashion can do it's part in helping our environment and making cities better. Also, with the COVID-19 pandemic, I found comfort in being able to create, especially in creating objects that were a little scarce. Eventually, I want to blend my career and my hobby even more, by creating in-person spaces for craft, especially in airports, train stations, near bus stops and in walking distance because I believe that craft is something that everyone should have, not just those who live in places where you can drive to your favorite major craft shop. But, I love those and the small places too. On this page, you'll find my crafty adventures and also you can purchase my patterns on the various sites I sell on.

We’re putting the squares to the side and making a wearable blanket. Hopefully my chenille experiment works out, but I have a sleeve!

These bright colors and textures were perfect for my night at the theater with watching come into her playwright bag , but I really stopped by to tell you that you can wear stuff like this, even if you’re not going to a theater and absolutely it can be a capsule wardrobe staple.

was in search of a good deal at the sale. Meanwhile, I figured that would possibly have an all wool coat on their floor, with a little bit of a markdown, especially with the closing sale.

So, yeah. No 100% wool coat, and barely any merchandise left period, that wasn’t of questionable quality.

However, this denim shirt dress in XL was a great deal! I paid $59.99 total for something that was 100% cotton and that works great as a shacket/duster and a regular dress.

And yes, shout out to for such a dope cassette tape t-shirt which was BAE’s, to BAE finding something at Levi’s and to the Wayfair outlet. If we hadn’t gotten to the mall at 7:30 when it closes at 8, we would have gotten into more, but alas, a good deal, or two, was found!

got me back to my favorite shade of hair. Now, if I can just get this sweater together…

Y’all, I can’t thank you enough, especially .fish, for making sure I didn’t frog an otherwise amazing project because it was frustrating and weird. I went up a hook size, I measured and noted each row BY HAND in my sketchbook and I used a solid bright color yarn so I could see my stitches clearly. Finally, The Nervous Knitter on YouTube was my first inspo and I noticed she put a border around her bubbled edge to make everything uniform! Onward!!!

So, I don’t mind blocking my squares for optimal drape, but something tells me my crochet mitered squares that I have been single crocheting with a 5 mm hook and #4 Caron Smash Cake in blueberry and Patons wool in Black, should not look the way it does. Y’all help me out and stay tuned to see how this got fixed!

Feeling heavy for so many reasons as we enter Black History Month. But, even when my usual relief from crochet isn’t there, my coloring books are!!! Thanks to and for holding me down with my coloring tools and for this cute book in the book annex.

Knitters and crocheters that make sweaters know about sleeve island. How many of us know about block island/cottage!

Also, s/o to all the q***r media that keeps me company in my studio, obviously the Heated Rivalry cinematic and promotional universe and the crew who have lifted up their own spectacular project UnRequited and several other amazing indie Black q***r media projects that are just as fun! Ya girl might be making a film or two as well as some more clothes this year!

Baltimore snow day part 2, the dig out. Spoiler alert, we gave up after filming this and went back inside to warmth and safety. But as I said, all this ice, natural and unnatural, needs to melt!
