It was a gorgeous summer day, not too hot, the kind of day after a summer rain that makes the air feel soft, clear and clean with the fragrance of the forest.
I was feeling just content of being home with Don and our animals, and postponed our plans kayaking out on the lake.
As I was napping and reading out in the hammock, a gentle breeze rustled the green branches, sun dappled patterns of light and shadow, creating a lovely mosaic on the grass....I sipped my iced tea as I enjoy nature's concerto of honey bees buzzing and birds singing.
At the end of this day, I realized I had been given a gift of restoration and finally being able to finish my book.🌿

Here's to the farmer that plants the fields in the spring that turn from green to that harvest honey gold.
The island's hay baling season is here. The sweet smell of hay is in the air with the haystacks in the fields in August's long hot summer days.
August is the capstone of summer and is characterized by a palette that bridges the gap between fiery summer sun-drenched hues and calm autumn tones that hint at the approaching fall. 🌻🌿🏡

On a beautiful summer's day as you drive along country roads on this island, the charm of a roadside farm stand is hard to miss. These stands, a nod to simplicity and trust, operate largely on the honor system, inviting customers to select fresh produce, farm fresh eggs, or cut flowers and leave payment in a cash box.

Setting up your own self-service roadside stand taps into a communal tradition that has endured. It allows small farmers and garden enthusiasts to connect directly with their community, sell the fruits of their labor, and earn a bit of money.

The trust that it cultivates within your community is so worth it.

Lughnasadh
Is a Gaelic festival marking the beginning of the harvest season. Historically, it was widely observed throughout Ireland, Scotland, and the Isle of Man. Traditionally, it is held on 1 August, or about halfway between the summer solstice and autumn equinox. Here's to the farmer who plants green fields in the spring that turn into late summer's honey gold.
