New work(s) in progress … how far along is it? where is it going? Is it already done? how many are in the series? I actually don’t know. Yet. I’m really enjoying layering the colors and mixing color variations right in the canvas. This, for me, is one of the most relaxing parts of painting.

There are some colors that excuse energy for me - hot pink is top of my list.

I absolutely love teal and turquoise for the richness and vibrancy and the hint that there is more to see under it like there is in the warm waters it nods to 🌴🐠🍍

It’s the 500th day of snow and cold, it’s gray, my painting table is sadly covered in a different kind of creativity: tax paperwork . . . this Blah Season can only be made better by looking at the brightest, most serotonin spiking colors I’ve got. These are close ups of a mini mural I did a few years ago on the corner of Washington/Northhampton in Boston’s South End/Roxbury line.

Someone recently ask me when my parents knew I had some art talent. My maternal grandmother painted and so did my mother so I assumed it was a combo of inherited talent and art hobbies starting very early. When I asked my mother, she said ‘well, you just wouldn’t stop making things’ but yesterday she told me, actually it was when I make this portrait of our cat in first or second grade. Showing my now-signature inability to make a straight and level line, The Inky Portrait has been hanging in her house ever since.

Will you be near Watertown, MA tomorrow at 1 pm? If so, join me and five other artists for the opening celebration of this multi-year public art exhibit. My abstract painting, Transitions, that now lives in Charlottesville, VA, has been transformed into a 6ft x 12ft banner to help Watertown celebrate its nearby landscape and improve the street scape. They anticipate it being up for 3-4 years - drive by anytime!

I started a new watercolor series this week inspired by wanting more joyful and whimsical colors and shapes around me - who says art had to only be on squares and rectangles and traditional colors?

Is Fall the new Art Collecting month?!! I hope so. This abstract landscape landed in Austin, Texas last week and is already in place at Atelier Maxime! (Swipe to see) Last year, when I was packing up my art studio closet, saw this one go by in a reel and told me if, once it was unpacked again, he wanted it. At the slow rate at which I get paintings photographed and marketed, that is a fantastic way to do it!!!
