Here we are, at it again with another round of participation identification! Now, friends, do you know this mineral?

Here, we have a view of both the sliced side and the rough side. On both pieces, we've got some strong reddish-brown and brown colors of a few shades.

The sliced side shows parallel lines that are layered with the reddish brown/brown/tan combinations. The almost wavy patterns midway tell us that there were at one point some geological happenings when this specimen was being formed.

On the rough side, we seem to have a small formation of orange pigmentation, which tells us this stone might have rust, which means it might be infused with iron throughout it and have white formations that indicate quartz or a type of silicate.

Any thoughts as to what this might be? Comment down below with your thoughts and guesses; the answer will be posted Tuesday, May 26th.

Did you know that pink is one of the rarer colors an amethyst can have?

It's true! We've talked about how amethysts can come in an arrangement of many colors, consisting of purples, greens, yellows, etc., and that it is one of the many varieties of quartz; however, we've never mentioned how some colors are harder to find than others. Pink amethyst is currently known to be found in Brazil because it's a relatively recently discovered variant. Not to be confused with its related cousin, rose quartz, pink amethyst contains iron & gamma radiation and is not transparent, whereas rose quartz can be transparent and contains inclusions of titanium, iron, and manganese, making it the most common mineral to find.

This stone of passion releases negative emotions and imbues your aura with self-confidence. Pink amethysts are a good find for meditative practices and for those who want to add a bit more pink to their color palette.
