Ladies, gents, and fans, we have an announcement. We are going on a road for the remainder of the summer fairs for 2026!!!

This means that we will not be at the shop during this time; thus, any business you wish to conduct with us must be done via Messenger and our comments below while we pack up our items for the trek across the state of Maine for the fairs!

We'll keep everyone updated for the foreseeable future as we go around the counties.

Did you know that Mica was used as the "original glitter filter"?

It's true, mica was used as a multi-use cosmetic to add that shimmer effect. We're talking pottery, paintings, and clothes, and in addition, back in Aztec times, mica was ground into a powder and added to stone and foundations so that when reflected from the sun, their architecture would shine with prestige. This is also true with man-made cosmetics and makeup as well! Thanks to its reflective and refractive properties, it has been used in such products like lipstick, eyeshadow, nail polish, and more!

You'd be surprised by the number of things mica is still being used for to this day. Contact us for our hours before stopping by at Crystal ConnXtions.

We're back briefly here at Crystal ConnXtions!

Since the move, we've finally decided after settling down and get back to our original roots by participating in most summer fairs in Maine. This has always been a staple since we were once named Matrix Minerals.

Currently our in-store inventory is a little low due to preparing for the next fair, that does not mean we have nothing to offer! In the meantime, we'll continue to keep all of our crystalholics up-to-date here on FB. Thank you for your patients!

Are you ready for the last part of our back-to-back round of "Do you know this mineral?"

If you guessed Green Garnet, you were accurate!

This specimen is known as Viridian Garnet. This vibrant green-blue hue is one of garnet's rarest colors. Tsavorite and Demantoid are two varieties of Viridian Garnet. Unlike other color-change garnets, tsavorite generally exhibits a vibrant, rich grass-green or deep bluish-green. Demantoid is distinguished by its yellowish-green or olive-green coloration.

Viridian garnet is associated figuratively with recovery, prosperity, and emotional healing.

We've got these availale here at Crystal ConnXtions and more! Come on by once we're back in Waterville from our fair trip!

Did you know that Ohio Flint Jasper isn't really jasper and what you know to be flint is really chert?

It is true. Technically, "true flint" is found in small and distinct areas due to environmental conditions. Ohio flint is considered high-quality chert because flint and chert have comparable physical qualities and are found as nodules and in layers of limestone.

Furthermore, because of the quality of the deposits, Ohio flint is classified into three distinct groups. The three distinct types of Ohio flint are Vanport Flint, Upper Mercer Flint, and Zaleski Flint. Depending on the area of the deposit, you may discover chalcedony, agate, and even jasper laced within the stone, which is why some deposits are known as Ohio Flint Jaspers, such as these beauties.

Here's the second half of the two-part "Do you know this mineral?" game.

One of the most obvious indicators as to what this green mineral could be is that it occurs in Andalusite! With this in mind, what would form in kyanite and sillimanite?

Furthermore, this specimen's hue is a lively green that appears in clusters. Luster is strong and, with additional development, might be deemed refractive.

Finally, it appears that there are tiny, very red deposits close to the grouped clusters, which may be associated with the green deposits.
