Hey all! I know it’s been quiet here on our social media and we figured we should let you know why. This last year we have been not just been working on our house, but we have also been in the process of building and creating new spaces on the property. Introducing Villa Lotus and Villa Sage! Along with these two new small homes we are updating the name of the property. While we love the meaning behind the DesVu name- we decided that with the growth- the name should follow suit. So we now present: Cascade House + Villas. Our new name pays homage not only to the waterfalls that surround our area, but also the w**ery that once lived on our property- Cascata Winery. This account will stay the same (with an updated name) for our continued renovation antics with the house. Sometimes when you get distracted in the middle of gutting a bathroom you take an old beam you pulled from an old shed you knocked down a couple months ago to build a floating shelf, take some flowers from your local florist ( ) and a bottle from your local coffee roaster ( ) to make a lil mini bouquet, and put it with a book you snagged a warehouse booksale last weekend to jazz up the Airbnb bathroom a lil more. Semi-high functioning adhd / frustrating husband at its best.

A little before and after in the same photo. The home has one fantastically beautiful front entrance with an impressive amount of layered paint coverage. Slowly slowly we have been chipping (pun intended) away at restoring it to the original wood. At first we didn’t think the wood was going to be good enough quality after years of wear, but with some love and sore arms we are finding beauty underneath.

DESVU [day - voo]:
Meaning: The awareness that this current moment will soon be a memory.

We’ve come to realize that our name has slightly confused most- both in regard to pronunciation as well as meaning. Those that know Erica, myself, and our children understand our loving embrace and proclivity towards chaos. However we also believe that chaos is difficult to appreciate without the balance of living and breathing in the current moment. As we renovate and bring this property back to where it belongs, we also have a deep desire to create a space that the current moment, wether chaotic or peaceful, can be celebrated and a memory created. Life moves fast. Keep notice of the memories created at every turn.
