Never underestimate the power of a well-designed shower niche. 😉

A little contrast, a little texture, and suddenly a practical feature becomes one of my favorite details in the entire bathroom.

It's these intentional moments that make a space feel elevated without trying too hard. ✨

Every remodel starts with a vision. ✨

Before a single demo day, tile sample, or paint color, I create a mood board that brings the overall feeling of the space into focus.

For this powder bathroom, the goal was moody, timeless, and full of character. Rich green tones, warm brass accents, natural textures, and statement wallpaper all came together to create a space that feels both elevated and inviting.

Having a clear design direction from the beginning makes every decision that follows so much easier—and helps ensure the finished space feels cohesive from start to finish.

Would you lean into this moody palette in your own home? 🌿🤎

If a room feels “off” but you can’t quite put your finger on why, the rug might be the culprit.

One of the biggest mistakes I see is choosing a rug that’s too small. It can make even a beautifully furnished room feel disconnected.

Here’s a simple guideline:
✔️ In a living room, at least the front legs of your furniture should sit on the rug.
✔️ If your space allows, having all the furniture anchored by the rug creates an even more cohesive look.
✔️ In a dining room, make sure the rug extends far enough that chairs stay on it when pulled out.

When in doubt, size up. A larger rug often makes the room feel more expansive and intentional.

It’s one of those small decisions that has a surprisingly big impact.

One of my favorite details in this kitchen? The waterfall island. ✨

It brings clean lines, beautiful continuity, and just the right amount of drama while letting the natural white oak cabinetry take center stage.

It's proof that simple doesn't have to be boring. Thoughtful materials and timeless finishes will always make the biggest impact.

Would you choose a waterfall island in your kitchen? 🤍

Hi, I’m Emily 👋

If you’re new here, welcome! I’m so glad you found my little corner of the internet.

I’m the designer behind Emily Eileen Interiors, where I help homeowners create spaces that are both beautiful and functional. My favorite projects are the ones that solve everyday problems while making a home feel warm, timeless, and personal.

A lot of homes I walk into aren’t missing anything major.
They’re just missing the final layer.

That “finished” feeling usually comes down to a handful of details that are easy to overlook but make a big impact once they’re in place.

It’s not about adding more; it’s about adding the right things in the right way.

When those layers come together, a space starts to feel more complete, more cohesive, and more like home.

📍 Based in Wauwatosa and serving the greater Milwaukee area.

If your space feels almost there but not quite finished, I’d love to help you pull it all together 🤍

This one was a game changer ✨

When we first toured this 1975 townhouse, I knew the layout needed to work harder for everyday life — especially when it came to laundry. Moving it from the basement up to the second floor (right where the bedrooms are!) has truly been life changing (no more running up and down stairs 🙌).

We also kept the finishes clean and timeless with classic subway tile, soft hex flooring, and a calming green-gray that makes the whole space feel light and fresh.

Proof that sometimes the biggest impact isn’t just how a space looks — it’s how it functions.

Would you move your laundry upstairs if you could? 🤍

This coffee table had me at the turned wood legs 😍

A piece like this adds so much character and warmth while still keeping the space feeling fresh and collected. Sometimes one statement piece is all a room needs.

Would you style your living room around a table like this? ✨

This little moment might be one of my favorites ✨

An antique berry basket turned wall feature — because sometimes the best design decisions are the ones you don’t see coming 😉

Before anything comes together… it starts here ✨

Every remodel begins with the layout — thinking through how the space will function, flow, and feel long before any finishes are selected.

Where walls shift.
How rooms connect.
What everyday life will look like in the space.

It may not be the “pretty” part of design, but it’s the part that makes everything else work.

Save this for your future remodel plans 🤍
