One of the biggest goals in this renovation was improving the flow of the home without sacrificing seating or warmth.

By shifting the dining area to one side with a built-in banquette, we were able to maximize functionality while preserving the natural traffic pattern through the space which completely changed how the home feels to move through.

Sometimes making a home function better has nothing to do with adding more space.

What It’s Like to Work With Us

Design is personal. The way a home functions, supports daily life, and makes people feel matters just as much as how it looks.

From the first inquiry to final styling, we believe the experience itself should feel thoughtful, well cared for, and deeply considered. Our process is rooted in the idea that good design is never just about one room or one decision, rather it’s about how everything works together to support the people living there.

Every conversation, selection, layout, and detail is approached with care, collaboration, and attention to the bigger picture.

Creating homes alongside our clients is something we care deeply about, and we’re excited to share a little more of what that process looks like behind the scenes. If you’re planning a renovation, furnishing project, or simply thinking about your home in a new way, we’d love to hear from you.

A lot of people think their space feels off because it’s too dark.

So the solution becomes adding more lights. Usually recessed lights. And a lot of them.

And yes, technically it works. The space is brighter. But it still doesn’t feel right.

Because brightness isn’t the same thing as good lighting.

At some point it just turns into more lights for no reason.

Good lighting is layered.

• ambient lighting
• task lighting
• accent lighting

Lighting that actually supports how you use the space.

More light doesn’t fix that. Better lighting does.

A good lighting plan starts with how you actually use your space.

That’s something we can help you figure out.

One of the biggest reasons people get overwhelmed with design decisions is just too many opinions.

You start out trying to figure out one thing and then suddenly everyone has something to say about it.

It’s not even that they’re wrong, it just becomes a lot really fast.

And then you’re not even focused on the original problem anymore, you’re just reacting to everything that’s being thrown at you.

That’s usually when people get overwhelmed and give up.

If you need someone to actually listen, filter things out, and help you solve what’s not working, that’s what we do.

You’ve been thinking about your home project for a while.

You’ve saved ideas.
You’ve looked things up.
You’ve maybe even started…

But somehow, you keep getting stuck.

You pause.
You second guess decisions.
You try to figure everything out yourself.

And then weeks pass…
Months pass…
Maybe even a year.

And it’s still not done.

Not because you don’t care,
but because at some point it started to feel bigger than you expected.

More decisions.
More moving pieces.
More time than you thought it would take.

So nothing actually moves forward.

That’s the part people don’t talk about.

It’s not just about having ideas.
It’s about knowing what to do with them.

Because once you have a clear plan,
everything starts to move.

If you’ve been stuck, this is where to start.

When homeowners begin planning a kitchen renovation, the focus often turns to finishes, cabinet colors, countertops, backsplash, lighting.

But one of the most important decisions happens much earlier in the process: the layout.

A kitchen can look beautiful, but if the layout doesn’t support how the space is used day to day, it can quickly become frustrating to work in.

Thoughtful planning around prep space, circulation, and the relationship between the sink, stove, and refrigerator helps create a kitchen that feels intuitive and functional.

At Made in Casita, we spend a lot of time thinking through these details so the kitchens we design not only look beautiful, but truly support the way our clients live in their homes.

Because the best kitchens are the ones that work effortlessly with the rhythms of everyday life.

If you're considering a kitchen renovation or redesign and want guidance on creating a layout that works for your home, we’d love to help bring that vision to life.

Our kitchens are one of the most active spaces in the home, and the way they’re designed can have a big influence on how we move through our daily routines.

Small details, like keeping ingredients visible, creating a dedicated prep zone, or organizing storage in a way that feels intuitive, can make everyday tasks feel easier and more enjoyable.

When we design kitchens for our clients, we think carefully about how the space will actually function day to day. A well-designed kitchen should not only look beautiful, but also support the way a household cooks, gathers, and lives.

If you’re considering a kitchen refresh or redesign, it’s worth thinking about how thoughtful design choices can support your routines and lifestyle.

We also explored this idea a little more in last week’s blog feature, where we talked about designing environments that support healthier habits.

Layered lighting is everything this time of year.
During the darker winter days, having more than one source of light in a room isn’t just cozy — it’s functional.

In this space, we mixed:
✨ a statement ceiling fixture
✨ angled wall washer lights to highlight the bookcase
✨ sconces over the gallery wall
✨ a table lamp for softness
✨ recessed lighting that guides the main path of travel from the entry through the living room

It’s never about one perfect light. It’s about how they work together to create a mood, highlight your home’s best features, and make your space feel warm from day to night.

Thinking about improving the lighting in your home this winter?
Save this for inspiration or reach out to Made in Casita to create a layered lighting plan that works beautifully for your space.
