If there was one constant that accompanied every single art piece I’ve made in the last 8.5 years… it was this guy. ••
Between cleaning, horns, prepping, painting, shipping, taking pictures of art and whatever else needed to be done, he was there. ••
He really was an integral part of my everyday workflow, something that I knew, but didn’t deeply realize until now that he won’t be. ••
Did he ever chew on skulls? Only a handful of times, and they were either not cleaned or freshly cleaned. He also knew he could have the nasal turbanates or the cut off horn cores. But he left all my perfectly cleaned skulls alone. Always. He was seriously such a smart dog, he knew the difference. Rooster could lay next to any of my art pieces or skulls out drying in the sun like they were just a companion and not a chew toy. That always amazed people. ••
Inadvertently, he built a business with me. Even if he had no clue he was. ••
We had to make the hard choice to let him go this last Friday, after he was diagnosed with terminal Lymphoma about a month ago. It was the right decision as he was suffering, but of course it’s never an easy one. ••
If you ever accidentally got a Rooster hair in your package from me, know the hairs came with a little love from our beloved German Wire Hair. He doesn’t even know how far those hairs have traveled around this world, he was just happy to be there. ••
We are already very much missing our bit 100 lb boy. But he’s running the fields of doggy heaven now. ••
