Behind the scenes, I’ve been mixing, testing, pouring, and creating something I am SO excited to finally start teasing…

If you’ve been wondering what I’ve been up to this past week…
Cedar & Soil got a new employee.

Meet Jurgen 🐾
He’s a 3-year-old mini doodle, and while his woodworking skills are questionable, his enthusiasm is unmatched.

Since onboarding, he’s been:
• Supervising every project (very closely)
• Stealing rags, gloves, and hearts
• Demanding frequent walk breaks
• Providing top-tier emotional support
• Absolutely destroying productivity in the cutest way possible

Safe to say, the shop has been a little louder, a little messier, and a lot more joyful this week. We’re still building, creating, and dreaming up new things—just with a furry shadow following us everywhere now.

I snuck intothe workshop to create handcrafted wooden utility boxes, and somehow one turned into three. Oops.

✨ Meet the new crew:
• 5″ Box – small but mighty (plants, candles, desk chaos)
• 6″ Box – the overachiever (bathroom, kitchen, shelves… it does it all)
• 8″ Box – big box energy (plants, centerpieces, “look what I made” moments)

They’re solid wood, handcrafted, and built to hold literally anything you can’t stand seeing loose on your counter anymore.

Each one is made by hand, no two are alike, and yes — custom sizes and designs are always an option because apparently I enjoy a challenge 😅

Cedar & Soil update!

The three new products you’ve seen recently are officially live — and while those launches were exciting, they’re really just the beginning.

I am SO SUPER Excited to announce that I’m in the middle of building a website for Cedar & Soil !!!!!!! — and it’s somehow both incredibly exciting and wildly frustrating. I’ve definitely caught myself yelling at my laptop more times than I’d like to admit, because I’m learning in real time that I am very much a creative-minded person and not a website builder. But I want this to be perfect, so I’ve been digging into every nook and cranny, tweaking details, learning the hard way, and refusing to settle for “good enough.”

Truthfully, I’d much rather be out in the shop creating new builds or hanging out with my kids; but this is one of those behind-the-scenes steps that really matters.

Launching a website is a big move for Cedar & Soil! It’s part of taking this little business I love and really trying to get it off the ground the right way, even if that means late nights, lots of coffee, and a whole lot of trial and error.

There’s ALSO a MUCH bigger rollout coming once everything comes together, and I’m excited (and maybe a little nervous) to finally start sharing what’s next.

🎉 New Year, New Tools, Same Passion 💚

After a sun-soaked summer full of camping, hiking, rock-hounding, and paddle-boarding with the kids, I’m officially back in the garage — but this season, I’m doing things differently.

This winter, I’ve enrolled in a creative woodworking + online marketing program designed to help makers (like me!) level up their craft and their small biz skills.

Hi. It’s me. I’m the problem, it was … summer. 🌲☀️
After a few months off the grid — camping, hiking, paddleboarding, rockhounding, and backpacking with the kids like it was my job — I’m finally back in the garage, covered in sawdust (and maybe mosquito bites).

I’ve soaked up every last second of sunshine and now… it’s time.
