Day one of a two-show weekend started WAAAY too early, but I drove in to the show hall for The Finger Lakes Spring Fling for a successful start. These horses were all painted by me. Competition was awesome, thanks to all the judges for their hard work today!

Cleaned up the studio horse room a bit today. We're doing a complete home makeover overhaul and this room NEEDED some clearing to make room for my fish tank that needs to get out of the living room in prep for new paint & floors in the next few weeks/months (the kitchen/dining room gets finished FIRST...so close as shown- floors need sealing and then cabinets, counters & appliances move back in. Hubby is doing it all himself; it's a learning experience in a good way). Exciting, exhilarating and chaotic all at once!

The last of my February projects needed a little snow day to get her photo shoot! This Walkaloosa was basecoated black in oils & pearlex, then the blanket was added with acrylics as part of Darynn Bednarczyk’s Appaloosa painting class. This course focused on pattern planning from a reference and hair by hair painting techniques, as seen in my video a couple weeks ago. I’m excited to use these new skills on future models! Details finished with acrylics & colored pencils.

February was not as productive as last year, but I finished three larger scale models start to finish. I have three pieces mid completion left to go and hope to have time to focus on some watercolor painting in upcoming months too.
