A dedicated coffee bar is one of those small luxuries that makes a kitchen work a little better every day.

For this kitchen renovation in The Woodlands, Texas, I created a separate coffee station with custom cabinetry, quartz surfaces, integrated storage, and plenty of room to keep the morning routine out of the main prep zone.

The coffee bar feels like a natural extension of the kitchen, just with its own purpose.

A little custom detail for one very important member of the family. 🐾

We built this pet feeding station right into the kitchen cabinetry for our clients’ sweet Goldendoodle, sized around the specific bowls they selected and finished with quartz inside for easy cleanup. An adjacent pullout base cabinet keeps food and supplies close by without taking over the room.

These are the kinds of details I love to work into a custom kitchen: practical, polished, and specific to the way a family actually lives.

From torn apart to transformed.

When I first stepped into this kitchen, water damage had already taken it back to the studs. What came next was a full reworking of the space: a new layout, new cabinetry, lighting, countertops, and high-end appliances, all designed to bring the kitchen back in a way that felt elevated, cohesive, and completely new.

A pretty dramatic kitchen design before + after in The Woodlands, Texas.

Neutrals don’t have to be the whole story. Sometimes they’re what give the color room to work.

In this kitchen, the soft cabinetry and flowing veining of the quartz create a quiet backdrop for layers of blue and warm brass throughout the space. Even the smaller moments get to carry some personality.

One of my favorites here is the colorful wall sculpture my clients selected from Ardest Gallery by artist Eliana Bernard. It’s a small detail, but it adds exactly the right bit of energy. Ardest Gallery Eliana Bernard

A better look at this completed kitchen renovation in The Woodlands, Texas.

The goal was to create a kitchen that felt elevated and updated without losing the character of the home. The design layered warm wood, soft neutral cabinetry, substantial millwork, new high end quartz surfaces, and brass details into a space that now feels brighter, more functional, and far more intentional.

And because the kitchen opens directly into the living space, it was important that the entire view work together, not just the cabinetry itself.

More from this project coming soon, including where we started.

A first look at a recently completed kitchen renovation in The Woodlands, Texas.

This home had experienced significant water damage, creating an opportunity to rethink the kitchen and bring the space back with a fresh, elevated direction.

I’ll be sharing more from this project over the next few days, including finished details and a before-and-after look at where it started.

Before you call the contractor, build the vision.

If you’re planning a renovation, new construction project, furnishings refresh, or vacation rental design project, the best time to bring in an interior designer is before the work starts.

A clear design plan helps align the vision, scope, finishes, furnishings, and construction details before costly decisions are made in the field.

Studio Croft Modern Homes & Signature Stays creates design forward interiors with enduring style for luxury modern homes and experience driven vacation rentals.

Friday always feels like an invitation to slow down. 🛁📖🍷

Maybe that’s why I love designing primary suites. They’re some of the most personal spaces in a home. They should feel dramatic, comfortable, and thoughtfully planned around the people who live there.

This modern bedroom and bathroom were designed with daily life in mind, without ever compromising on great design.

I shared the thinking behind this space in my newest blog post, Modern Primary Suite Design: Seven Details That Shape Daily Life.
