I love this quote from Dolly. But truthfully, I’ve always had people believing in me and cheering me on throughout my entire art career. This year has been full of highs and I just can’t believe where my art has ended up. Dolly has been and will continue to be a source of inspiration for me.

“Believe in Yourself” was one of Dolly Parton’s most memorable sayings. She was such an inspiration to me and to so many other women.

Truthfully—I have always had friends and family cheering me on. But it’s an important message for everyone to hear because not everyone has a cheering section.

Support your friends.
Support the small business down the street.
Support the person chasing a dream.
Even if you don’t need what they’re selling.
If you saw your friend at a market or pop-up, would you walk right past their booth without saying hello? Probably not. You’d stop. You’d chat. You’d encourage them. You’d tell them their booth looks great.
The internet shouldn’t be any different.
You don’t have to buy something every time. But a like, a comment, a share, or even a few kind words can mean more than you know. Behind every small business account is a real person wondering if anyone is seeing all the work they’re putting in.
So if a friend’s post pops up today, don’t just scroll by.
Stop and say something.
It costs nothing, but it can mean everything.

If we are living in fear of what others think or dreading the day-to-day, what are we living for? If there’s one thing I have learned from my now 10-year career as an artist, it’s that I wouldn’t want it any other way. The flexibility I have to create what I dream up, work when I want to, and get to choose how to spend my energy—it’s all worth it!
