I am so thrilled to be part of greeNest's givingRooms fundraiser on September 18, in our lovely Winston Salem — and I would love your support!

As the owner of Little Bird Design, I believe everyone deserves a home that feels welcoming, beautiful, and uniquely their own — regardless of budget or circumstance. That belief is exactly what drew me to partner with greeNest for this event. My vignette, entitled Draper's Costa Rica, brings a colorful, tropical living room to life — a space full of personality, whimsy, and style.

Every ticket purchased, every vote cast, and every dollar donated goes directly to greeNest's work furnishing homes for families transitioning out of crisis — providing a sofa to gather on, a table to share meals around, and a bed to rest in at the end of a long day.

There comes a point in life when “home” isn’t about square footage anymore.

For many people, it’s about moving closer to family, simplifying life, or beginning a new chapter in a retirement community.

Often, the hardest part isn’t the move itself. It’s figuring out how to make a new place feel like home while honoring a lifetime of memories.

That’s where I love to help.

I work with all types of clients, residential and commercial, each with different needs. But I’ve been noticing a surge in clients who are downsizing or moving into assisted living communities. I enjoy helping them create spaces that are comfortable, personal, and filled with the things they love most.

This bathroom was featured on Hygge and West’s email blast today, and I’m really enjoying the boldness of these choices!

Wallpaper: Serpentine, Color: Punch

I think this works well because they’ve mixed bold pattern with a deeper earth tone on the bottom half of the wall. They’ve mixed traditional and eclectic pieces, and they’ve softened the room with plants and good lighting.

I love a bold, unexpected design in a bathroom or powder room!

Painted floors - Yes or no?
It’s usually a yes from me, but of course, depending on the type of floor, condition, and color.

I recently saw (first photo) painted wood floors in an article, and loved how they used the monochromatic green tones with a large checkerboard pattern

When we moved in to a new place a few years ago, it was covered in beige carpet. I’m NOT a beige carpet kind of girl. Not that there’s anything wrong with that…
So I had the entire downstairs carpet ripped up, the furring strips removed, and then I went in with a can of concrete paint in a deep teal and went for it. I LOVE it!!!
I chose area rugs for each space to add softness and help with acoustics.

Eventually, if and when I decide to buy hardwood floors, they will lay them right on top of my fab blue concrete. Until then, I’m quite enjoying the look.

Three mistakes I see people make when hanging artwork…

1️⃣ Hanging it too high

2️⃣ Choosing artwork that’s too small for the wall or furniture beneath it

3️⃣ Spacing gallery wall pieces too far apart

The good news? All three are easy fixes that can instantly make a room feel more polished and professionally designed.

The long awaited colors of the year for 2026 have been released. Benjamin Moore’s, most recently.

As expected, BROWN IS BACK in a big way. Deep browns are taking the place of black, and beiges are taking the place of gray. These will be your new neutrals for the foreseeable future. Thank goodness for some deep, moody jewel tones. 💕

I’m thrilled to share some extraordinary news that I’ve been eager to announce! In a surprising turn of events, NASA needed a creative to design logos for a few innovative new inventions, and I’m honored to have been selected for this exciting opportunity. I’m deeply grateful for my friend Kev Carrico, who recognized this interior designer’s outside-the-box creativity and recommended me for this project. As the mastermind behind the animation and post-production, his expertise has been invaluable.
