Let’s normalize a functional working space that isn’t “social media ready”!
This is my office! I don’t have a room dedicated to my crafts. I don’t have a big fancy set up where everything is color coordinated and organized. I don’t stage my progress photos and I’m hardly ever personally camera ready. My kids stuff will end up in photos, sometimes my pets, sometimes the other messes of my home. That’s one of the realities of working a business from home!
Playing the algorithm game is hard. Extremely hard. It’s constantly changing and adapting to what is trending. If I were to take a class on social media presence, one of the top things they’d recommend is staging my space and branding myself. But I don’t want to be like everyone else. I don’t want my products and photos and posts to have all the same key words and photos that everyone else does. How am I supposed to stand out that way?
Instead, I’ll be normalizing the real life behind the scenes of having a business from home, especially a crafty one. Our tables are messy, our things are everywhere. Color coordination doesn’t always happen and organization only stays organized for so long. I’ll always be real in my posts, showing you the true steps it takes for me to accomplish these amazing works of art.
I have my kitchen table as my working space right now, and a small table with a caterpillar tent outside for the staining and lacquering. This is all I need right now to accomplish my crafts, so why would I change it? Just to “fit a brand”? Nah, I like my work space, I like being real, I like showing you all the authentic side of this business. I hope you like it too. ❤️
