Sometimes when your washer floods and soaks three levels of your home, you have to get new flooring 😅🙃.... true story! The homeowners tried to get replacement flooring for the laminate already installed, but they didn't make the product anymore.

So, new LVP was the solution!

Chad and I took out the old flooring, ground down the plywood seams and checked for uneven spots on the floor, sanded out the humps, filled low spots with feather finish cement, and then installed the new lvp.

Bare subfloor to pre-finished red oak hardwood floor.

Here’s Chad and Katie installing 2 1/4" prefinished hardwood — start to finish (sped up, of course!)

The homeowners wanted to match their existing hardwood flooring and remove carpeted areas on their main level.

We demoed an office and the foyer/formal dining room that had carpet, made a transition piece from the old wood floor to the new wood floor and installed the new wood. The homeowners chose to use the same trim and they bought new vent covers to match the new flooring.

The grand staircase also got a make over with new carpet and pad, which they LOVE since they hadn't replaced the carpet in 23 years.

They say their space is transformed and they wish they added the new hardwood sooner. 🥰

Chad and I are installing prefinished hardwood flooring.

You’ll see us racking the boards first — laying out full rows ahead of time so the color and lengths are mixed the way we want. Then Chad works his way across with the flooring stapler, installing as he goes.

I’m on the compound miter saw cutting the end pieces to length and placing them ready for him so he never has to stop and measure.

Project: homeowners wanted to remove old carpet and replace it with prefinished hardwood to match the rest of the main level in their home.

Most installers skip this step.
We don’t.

When we install Luxury Vinyl Plank (LVP), the floor needs room to expand and contract with Minnesota’s temperature and humidity swings. If it’s locked tight against the walls, it can buckle or open gaps later.

That’s why we undercut the sheet rock with a Crain undercut saw — so the flooring has space to move underneath the drywall instead of fighting it.

Not everyone takes the time (or has the tools) to do this the right way.

We do.

We also run a shop-vac system with dust deputies the whole time we’re cutting. It does a great job wrangling the majority of the dust and keeps the workspace and air a lot cleaner.

That said — when the floor is uneven or we’re going over floor vents, the suction isn’t perfect and some particulates still get into the air.

This is still a demolition project, so there will be a mess. We just do everything we can to reduce it and keep your home as clean as possible during the renovation.

Details matter! Your floor (and your house) will thank you!

Patio carpet just got installed ✨

And yes… outdoor carpet is a real thing (and it’s actually pretty genius).

We put this down inside a neighbor's screened in porch patio so the space feels soft under bare feet, looks finished, and stays usable way longer into the season.

No more hot concrete or tracking dirt straight into the house every time they walk outside.

What outdoor carpet is great for:
• Covered patios & screened porches
• Softening hard surfaces without doing a full build-out
• Creating a clean, finished outdoor “room”
• Making the space feel more like an extension of the house

Keeping it clean is simple:
• Sweep or blow it off regularly
• Hose it down when it gets dusty
• Mild soap + water for the occasional deeper clean
• Let it dry fully before covering or stacking furniture on it

No drama. Just a clean, comfortable outdoor space that feels good to walk on.

Seaming carpet together is a SKILL and that's why Chad puts SO MUCH TIME into what he works on to make sure it's done right the first time.

In the video, Chad is using an orange handle seamer that heats up a strip of carpet glue under the carpet backing to then secure the two carpet sections together as the glue cools. He pulls apart the fibers to make sure they are standing up and no one is left behind under the carpet, which causes imperfections in the seam.

The whole goal of seaming is to bring 2 pieces of carpet together so they fit exactly in your room and merge into another room, like a hallway or livingroom.

When seams are done poorly, are old from wear and tear, pet damage, etc. you can see the seam coming apart or a line on the floor.

Is there prevention for a bad seam? Yes! Installing it the right way the first time and trying to keep pets from digging to China on the door transition. 😅🤣

Avery, Chad and I had a BIG week wrapping up a huge project that we've worked on all month!

✨️ 2,000 sqft of Luxury Vinyl Plank flooring - main level and second floor
✨️ New carpet on the main staircase
✨️ Knock down ceilings on the ENTIRE main level

We have a BIG ANNOUNCEMENT!! 😍🌿😍

AVERY, our human that we have known since she was very little, has now decided to learn the flooring, painting, drywall finishing, and knock down ceiling trades during her senior year! (She's grown so fast! Photo with flowers on her head from Ren Fesf was her younger self. We just went to pick raspberries at Afton Apples this week 🍎 and had a great time.)

This summer, she is getting a crash course in flooring with Chad and I! She's on site prepping flooring repairs, installing lvp, getting in on carpet seaming, learning how to carpet stretch, and more.

We also have her interior painting learning to efficiently cut in and roll for quick turn arounds on updating interior spaces. 😀

And to top it all off, she's also diving into scraping popcorn ceilings and doing knock down ceilings with us. 😍

She's a hard worker, asks questions, is personable, listens, jokes, has compassion, loves snacks, enjoys surprises, and will also do extra work for Chipotle fajitas. 🤪
