My first trip to NYC did not disappoint. I loved every second of it. The energy, the history, the food, but most of all, the architecture. I couldn’t help but think about all the decisions, creativity, and craftsmanship that shaped the city into what it is. I found myself wishing I could be a fly on the wall as these buildings were imagined, designed, and brought to life.

I’m already dreaming about our next visit. There is still so much I want to see, and I can’t wait for our film to get developed.

Quality hardware is worth every penny. We can’t wait to watch this unlacquered brass develop a rich, lived-in patina over time. It will only get better with age. Stay tuned for the full reveal of this project. There’s only a few more finishing touches.

All the neutrals for our Haven Creek project.

We were very intentional on the size of furniture here due to the stairs and powder bath being right off the entry. We wanted it to feel warm and welcoming but ensure that it wouldn’t feel overcrowded. There’s not a window over here so we felt a large round mirror to reflect light was best instead of a large art piece. It keeps things feeling airy while still making a statement.

So I’m trying to be a little more transparent about our process over here. One thing we have is a construction binder full of all the project information.

What does that binder include?

1. The Spec Book: This is the part that has all the pretty little details. It has all the materials are being used, the vendors, size placement, pictures and who is purchasing them.

2. The Drawing Packet: This has all the details dimensioned drawings. There is SO much math involved in interior design. It’s not just pretty pillows. We have everything dimensioned. How high is the sconce? How high is the backsplash? How thick is the countertop? We’ve got it all.

3. The Final Design Plan: Between the initial design concept presentation and the final approved design, there will be a few changes and revisions. We make sure that the final design plans are included in the construction binder.

Design lives in the details; in how materials sit beside one another, how light moves across texture, and how a palette slowly comes into focus.

This is where the vision begins to feel real.

A look at our design board for our West Larch kitchen. We are keeping things neutral with a white classic kitchen. We will add warmth with textiles and vintage pieces.

I’m not the greatest sharing on social media. But need to share this cozy kitchen layered in warmth, texture, and timeless finishes. How could it get any better? I love how this colores elevation helps visualize the space!
