Red Velvet Cinnamon Rolls ❤️🍩
Ingredients:
For the Dough:
2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
¼ cup granulated sugar
1 tsp baking powder
½ tsp baking soda
½ tsp salt
½ cup unsalted butter, melted
1 large egg
1 cup buttermilk
2 tbsp red food coloring (or as needed)
1 tsp vanilla extract
For the Filling:
½ cup brown sugar, packed
2 tbsp ground cinnamon
¼ cup unsalted butter, softened
For the Cream Cheese Glaze:
4 oz cream cheese, softened
1 cup powdered sugar
2 tbsp milk
1 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions:
Prepare the Dough:
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
In another bowl, combine the melted butter, egg, buttermilk, red food coloring, and vanilla extract. Mix well.
Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring until a soft dough forms. If the dough is sticky, add a little more flour as needed.
Knead and Roll:
On a floured surface, knead the dough for about 5 minutes until smooth.
Roll the dough out into a rectangle (about 12x18 inches) to prepare for filling.
Add the Filling:
Spread the softened butter over the rolled-out dough.
In a small bowl, mix the brown sugar and cinnamon, then sprinkle evenly over the buttered dough.
Roll and Cut:
Starting from one edge, tightly roll the dough into a log. Slice the log into 12 equal pieces.
Place the rolls in a greased 9x13-inch baking dish. Cover and let rise in a warm place for about 30-45 minutes, or until doubled in size.
Bake:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Bake the rolls for 25-30 minutes, or until they are lightly golden.
Prepare the Cream Cheese Glaze:
In a medium bowl, beat together the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
Serve:
Once the rolls are baked, drizzle the cream cheese glaze over the warm rolls before serving.
