One of our love languages is recommendations.
We love when someone shares with us a great book, or their favorite band, or an amazing new board game. Over half the books we've read this year have been recommended to us by someone else.
This kind of thing matters more now than ever. In a time where anyone can create anything with AI, we rely even more on real recommendations from real humans.
So, we've started to curate our own. Introducing "Y.D. Recommends" -- an ongoing collection of our favorite things -- the books shaping our theology, the board games we frequent on family night, the grain mill that's helped us to eat healthier.
Some of these are affiliate links (no extra cost to you). Some aren't -- they're just things we love enough to tell you about anyway. Either way, nothing is on the list that we don't genuinely use and love.

Part 4 of the Skoolie Project! Windows are being deleted and we are skinning over the sides with galvannealed steel panels. Please forgive the messy caulk job πŸ˜† hoping to hide those crimes later. We'll be adding about half of the windows back in (as nice, new, WATERPROOF camper windows). It's exciting to finally see some visual transformation on the exterior!
Stay tuned for the upcoming "Side Quest!"

WARNING: It all starts with toothpaste.

Here's an (overdue) update on the Skoolie Project! The floor is un-rusted and sealed, driver's seat is removed, and we're ready to start pulling windows and reskinning the sides!
Some lessons learned:
It's hard to overstate just how much water is coming in through the stock windows. It was almost impossible to see before pulling out the floor, but that water was creating a breeding ground for mold and rust -- not good for the bus or for you. Very glad we decided to remove the stock floors and the stock windows.
This Chassis Saver product seems like magic -- they even recommend leaving a bit of rust behind (after removing the scaly, structural rust) so the paint has something to bite onto. Compared to the other multi-step processes we've seen out there, this approach seems like a winner.
Stay tuned! See you on the next one!

We finally have a home online!
yellowdoorco.com is live, and we're really excited about this one.
It's been a while in the making. Is it perfect? Not even close. But it's real, and it's ours.
This little corner of the internet is where everything we're building lives β€” Waypoint, Tiny Blessings, Dandelion Roots, Sword & Stone Games, the Skoolie project, Will's writing, all of it. If you've ever wondered what we're actually up to, now you have somewhere to go.
We're also starting a monthly newsletter in May. Just us, telling you what we're working on, what we're learning, and what's coming next. If that sounds like something you'd want in your inbox, the link to sign up is on our site.
We're really glad you're here for it. This is just the beginning.

For the past year, our family motto has been 'Life on Purpose' -- trying to live intentionally in our work, our faith, our family, and our home.

Alissah's been wanting to dig deeper into that last one.

Today she's launching something she's been sitting with for a while -- Dandelion Roots. It's a place for moms who want to chase God's design for the home instead of the world's. Practical, faith-first, and real. No performance. No perfection. Just someone walking the road and encouraging others to do the same.

Find her on Facebook at Dandelion Roots or on Instagram at: instagram.com/dandelionrootshome

Go give her a follow. We think you'll feel right at home. 🌼
