I did something today 👀😬
Did a long-overdue clean-up and parted with eight paintings from my 2021/ 2022 archive. These pieces have lived with me through many seasons. They’ve witnessed moves, transitions, and moments I never quite put into words. Letting them go wasn’t easy, but they weren’t meant to gather dust. Art is meant to breathe, not sit on a shelf. Now, they’ve found better home, a space where they’ll be seen.
In addition, for the first time, I formalised the transfer of ownership of all of these paintings- something I’d never actually done before. It felt… well significant!! 🙈
Here’s to making space for the new chapters to come! ❤️

Nights at the R***e: Part II
Oil on canvas | 2025
Size: 18” x 24” inches

I started this painting sometime last year. I want to say August, because that’s the marking on the back of the canvas. It started in acrylic. I had a concept in mind from the beginning, but I just couldn’t get through it. The colours were too complex. I couldn’t strike the balance I was looking for, so I kept putting it away. Every time I came back to it, it felt like the painting was on fire. Loud. But not in a good way. It was intense in all the wrong places. That wasn’t what I was going for, so I stepped away again. And again.

Then, earlier this year, I picked it up again. This time, I switched to oil. It’s more in line with the direction I’ve recently taken, as I’ve decided to fully move into oil painting. I poured in the reds, worked through the shadows, and started finding the depth I’d been searching for.

This is the final output, at least for now. I can’t give away too much of the concept yet, because it’s part of a larger story I’m building. A full theme, told in chapters. This is just one of them. One of the pieces in Nights at the R***e. I don’t know yet how many there will be in this chapter, but here’s the second one. And I couldn’t be prouder of where it’s ended up✨

Have I ever told you the story behind “Precarious Mind”?

It was last year. 2024. I was bedridden with one of those viral flus. Nothing dramatic, just the usual fever, sore throat, and being hot on cough syrup trying not to cough myself into an early grave. I know I’m being a bit dramatic, but that’s how it felt. I think it was the second day. I woke up around 8 in the morning, drenched in sweat, and all I could think of was, “I need to sit in front of an easel.”
