25/01/2025
This morning I did a thing….
One of my artistic goals for 2025 is to end the year with NO unfinished projects (of which, right now I have close to 30).
This canvas was a peice I started years ago with a clear vision, but one that never took flight.
It stayed a constant reminder of unfinished business and an idea that no longer resonated with me.
I’ve been cleaning and organizing my studio all month long.
Realized that some things need more attention than others and some things I need to leave in the past.
Today I picked up this canvas and decided to “trash” it.
I grabbed some oil paint, which used to be my medium of choice, but haven’t used in about 20 years, and decided I have no idea what life this painting will take on, but I am trusting myself and the process to bring to life whatever it is supposed to be.
It may take months or it may take all year for the canvas to tell me to stop, but I am
Making this my lesson to myself for this year….
Be patient.
You don’t always have to know the outcome to be able to work on the journey.
You can use more than the tools than everyone expects you to use.
You can recreate yourself every time you want to…
Growth🍃
Every time I work on this, I will post my progress—no matter how grim—because I promise, there WILL be a grim phase because there always is….
But right now this is the beginning of the relationship….full of excitement and what will be come of it….
Hope you enjoy this journey.
