Stephanie White Creations - NL Indigenous arts and crafts Kwe,
I am a Mi'Kmaw artist sharing my culture through art. Wela'lin Stephanie White is a Mi’Kmaw artist.

I enjoy painting, drawing, sewing, photography and crafting with sea glass, wood, furs, skins, leather, antler, porcupine quills, birch bark, feathers, beads, cedar, sweetgrass, tobacco. She became interested in arts and crafts at a very early age and enjoys working with diverse media including painting, drawing, sewing, and photography. She creates decorative art such as jewelry and baskets with

grass, driftwood, sea glass, wood, resin, and even rocks! Her indigenous art includes working with furs, skins, leather and antler of seals, rabbits, moose, and caribou, porcupine quills, sinew, birch bark, feathers, and beads. A large part of her indigenous crafting involves working with the traditional medicines of the Mi’Kmaq; sage, cedar, sweetgrass, and tobacco. She has also participated quite extensively in the performing arts like dance, music, film, and theatre.

I've had a few people ask me to do a piece that brings the Indigenous cultures of Newfoundland (and Canada!) together.

Spirit Inuksuk has cultural symbolism from both First Nations and Inuit. Both cultures are so beautiful and I have the greatest respect for our Inuit brothers and sisters. ❤️

The inuksuk is often seen as a symbol of Canadian culture but it is important to recognize that it is Inuit culture. Inuksuit are used as hunting and navigational aids and for marking sacred areas.

To honor the Inuit culture I will donate proceeds from this piece to Inuit Cultural nonprofit organizations.

Today is Earth Day 🌎

Take a moment to think about what you can do to help Mother Earth. We have to protect this beautiful planet for ourselves and the next generations. 🏕🏖🏜🏝🏞🌄🌊

These are pics of us cleaning St. Philips beach a couple of weeks ago. They were fighting over who got to put what, and how much, garbage in the bag because they both wanted to be the best cleaner. 🤣 but it was Lakelyn's idea to clean the beach so I know I'm doing something right! ❤️

Today I led a water ceremony for World Water Day. Mother Earth is struggling and our waters need to be protected. Water is life.

Last week my children, my mother and I all cleaned up a local beach. It was my daughter's idea and they were so proud of the work they did.

Please be mindful of your waste and be an advocate for our precious waters. 🌊💧

Loving these new earrings! 🌈

Made 2 sets of earrings (for myself 🤭). Beading is so good for the soul. Not so good for the fingertips. 🪡😆
